It then shows us the clip of him rapping 'Ice Ice Baby' but different words about wrestlers and wrestling. It shows Funaki in the background looking at John all weird.
I am a big fan of John Cena, who, for those of you who don't know, is a wrestler in the WWE. NO, I don't only like him because he is sexy, I like him because of his attitude, style and of course, his wrestling talent.
Now I am not going to go into the John Cena biography, because I'll be here all day talking about this very sexy man! I'll give you a bit about him, so you can get a bit about what HE is about.
●A TINY BIT ABOUT WHY I LIKE CENA●
John Cena is basically the 'Eminem' of wrestling. His fellow wrestlers often call him Vanilla Ice wannabe. He dresses in his own clothes, raps to/about fellow wrestlers, and really just doesn't give a poop! The reason I took a liking to this guy when I first saw him is that he was a 'hip' guy in with the times. I am a massive fan of Hip-Hop and Rap music, and when I saw him come out rapping for the first time, I took a liking to him. Even though he was a 'heel' at first, I didn't really care, because I just liked him. (In wrestling there are 2 things a wrestler can be - Face or Heel which is quite self explanatory in a way. A Face is a wrestler such as, Hulk Hogan, which I am sure you have all heard of, or rather the Rock at most times! They are wrestlers who are liked/loved. A Heel is a wrestler who is disliked, and most of the time, not just by fans/audiences, but other wrestlers.) But John Cena soon became a Face.
Plus, he was also enemies with people I hated, such as Kurt Angle and many others.
He also has a good sense of humour, and him being himself on this DVD lets you see more of his funny side, which is quite weird too! Most of his raps are funny, especially ones when he disses Michael Cole.
The only way I can describe this guy is that he is 'up to date', and 'with the times'. He also had some good moves, but to be honest, I only really liked him at first site because I fancied him lol. It took me a few month to get used to him and figure out his moves, but when I did, I was definitely not going off this guy.
●NOW ONTO THE DVD●
When you first put in the DVD, the WWE Signature comes up, along with the 'Don't Try This At Home' advert. There is also 2 other ad's at the beginning of the DVD. One is advertising the Monday Night War DVD, and the other is for WrestleMania 20! You can press your Menu/Title button on your DVD Remote to skip them, but some people like watching them so, just thought I'd tell you they were on there.
Once you are onto the Main Menu of the DVD, you get John's 'Thugganomics' song playing in the background. 'Thugganomics' is John's very own song which he sings, or rather, raps with his cousin, Trademarc.
There are 3 choices on the Main Menu of the DVD, which are:
'Yo! Hit It!' which is olden language for 'Play All'.
'The Chapters' which is 'Yo! Hit It!' cut down in to chapters, which is easier if you want to skip a few things.
'The Extras' which obviously has extras, which I'll explain later on.
●THE CHAPTERS●
NOTE - All chapters are just raps, there isn't any matches! (All freestyles are what were shown on WWE).
CHAPTER 1 - THE FIRST RAP
When 'First Rap' starts, John comes onto the screen, where he is in West Newbury, Massachusetts, which is his hometown. He tells us that 'we', meaning the audience, are where 'it' all began. Where he wrestled his brothers, where he hung out after school and where he grew up. He then gives us a little welcome to the DVD.
He then begins to tell us about his first rap (in the WWE, not in his life), which he tells us was on Halloween 2002, where WWE were having a Halloween party, and they asked him to do a rap, but he had to come dressed as Eminem or Vanilla Ice. He tells us that he had to choose Vanilla Ice, because he had to keep it 'retro', in his words. It then shows us the clip of him rapping 'Ice Ice Baby' but different words about wrestlers and wrestling. It shows Funaki in the background looking at John all weird.
CHAPTER 2 - BROCK
This starts with John at home playing on the Playstation 2 with Trademarc (his cousin who he raps with), playing a wrestling game. John is as himself, and Trademarc is playing as Brock Lesnar! John tells us he loves playing on PS2 on Here Comes The Pain. A bit of humour comes out where he's role-playing saying he's showing Brock a 'thing or two'. He then introduces us to Trademarc, who he seemed to forget at the beginning of the clip, because he's been sat there the whole time!
John then tells us a little about one of his biggest feuds, which was with Brock Lesnar, then introduces us to the Brock clips. Then he begins to batter Trademarc!
The first clip is of Cena in February 2003, coming out to the ring rapping to, or rather about Brock Lesnar, who is in the ring. After this rap finishes, it shows us another of John sat backstage rapping to the camera, again, about Brock. It then shows us 2 more freestyles about Brock, then finishes.
CHAPTER 3 - UNDERTAKER
This starts with John in a car with Trademarc on their way to record a song about the 50 most famous moments of Wrestlemania, and Wrestlemania 20. He then begins to tell us that you can't think of Wrestlemania, and not think of The Undertaker, which is true! Whilst Cena is talking, a few clips of him versus The Undertaker are shown. Then he tells us a bit about The Undertaker's reign of Wrestlemania. (To those non wrestling fans, The Undertaker has never been beaten at Wrestlemania, which is THE main event of the year, the one that all the WWE guys want a chance at being party of. This year, his reign became 13-0 to 'Legend Killer' Randy Orton, meaning he's fought at 13 WrestleMania's, and has never lost.)
We are then shown a few freestyles about The Undertaker.
CHAPTER 4 - WRESTLEMANIA
This starts with John and Trademarc at the Studio, with the single they went to record on Chapter 3 is playing in the background! John then tells us about his first WrestleMania.
The first rap is where John is rapping on the ramp with a statue of Jay-Z and a statue of Fabolous, and he's taking the p out of the 2, because they were meant to come to Mania and battle rap John, but they turned it down.
CHAPTER 5 - BATTLE RAPS
This starts with John still in the studio, telling us about the many people who have asked Cena for a battle rap.
The first clip is John Cena and Rikishi, with Tazz as the 'ref' for the battle rap. Rikishi wins. LOL.
The second clip is John in the ring rapping about Brock Lesnar, when Spanky, who always thought he was a rapper, comes out trying to beat Cena at a battle rap. John stands there laughing and pulling faces at Spanky because of his name. They get the ref to do a beat box down the mike. Spanky starts the rap. It makes me laugh on stuff like this because you can hear Tazz (Announcer) laughing in the background, and his laugh makes me laugh! Spanky then starts playing with John's hair, where you can tell Cena is getting angry but Cena gives him the F-U. His finishing move.
The next clip is of Cena and Funaki! This is another rap of Cena taking the mick out of Michael Cole, which makes me laugh all the time, whenever he disses Michael Cole. Funaki starts singing U-G-L-Y, You aint got no alibi, you ugly. So then the match starts.
The next clip is of Cena and Kurt, which there has been many, many raps between these two, and it's on the battle raps where Kurt shows his funny side.
The last clip is of Big Show and Cena, where Big Show is dressed like Cena and looks so funny. Big Show wins this one.
CHAPTER 6 - THE MACMAHONS
The McMahon's are the founders of WWF. They are the 'bosses' in a way. John tells us how he used to always be in trouble from Vince.
A clip comes on with John rapping to Stephanie. He asks her can he feel her bum, and she lets him. John gets all chuffed lol. Then Mr McMahon and Sable come out but John disses them two too.
CHAPTER 7 - FREESTYLE
This starts with John in the Studio still with about 12 guys. He tells us to check out these freestyles, and then the clips come on.
There are about 8 freestyles of John to other wrestlers.
CHAPTER 8 - IRAQ
The WWE have been to Iraq at Christmas time for the past 3 years, so they can take the WWE to the American soldiers over in Iraq.
John is sat telling us that his favourite freestyle ever is from when they went to Iraq, and he tells us all about the respect he has for the guys over in Iraq represented the USA.
He then sends his love to all the guys out in Iraq, and the Iraq freestyle clip comes on.
John is in the ring freestyling about his upcoming match with Big Show.
This chapter ends with John sat on a couch with the 12 guys from the chapter before this one saying goodbye, and thanks for watching the DVD.
This then takes us back to the Main Menu.
●THE EXTRAS●
There are quite a few extras. This is where the matches are.
Vs. Chris Benoit Vs. Brock Lesnar Vs. Undertaker Vs. Eddie Guerrero Vs. Kurt Angle
I won't explain the whole matches to you, but they are all an average of 20 minutes. They are the full matches, and haven't got bits taken out. All the matches are John's very first matches with the people he is fighting with.
●Before They Were Superstars●
This is a DVD which the WWE have brung out (they have brung out a few, obviously with different wrestlers on each), where it shows a bit about a few wrestlers growing up, how they made it into the WWE, what their family thinks about their relative being a wrestler and so on. This is taken from the Before They Were Superstars DVD which John is on.
This is actually quite interesting. It starts with one of John's brothers telling us what he is like, and then we see some baby pictures. His Mother tells us all about what he was like as a kid, and all other family members have their say. John also pops up a few times telling us about when he was growing up and so on.
This runs for about 15 minutes.
●Outside The Ropes●
This is a short clip of John Cena being interviewed by Josh Matthews, who is one of the interviewers for the WWE. Josh asks John 10 questions about his thoughts/feelings on stuff. It is quite funny. This only runs for 5 minutes, but is a very 'entertaining' clip of him and Josh being weird!
●Behind The Scenes: YJ Stinger AD●
This is an advert what John Cena did for YJ Stinger, which is a drink in America. The whole Advert is John Cena in 3 different sets of clothes, 3 different themes of freestyles for the 3 different flavours of the drink. Obviously, the advert is John Cena rapping.
This clip is really funny. There is a guy on it that is so annoying though. I think he's the Director because he is the one telling John what to do. He keeps talking like a gangster and he's like pure white. He keeps saying stuff like, 'Yo Dogg, what's up g?' and so on, putting this 'gangster' accent on and playing up to the camera. John just gives him funny looks the whole time!
This is only a brief clip which runs for 3 minutes.
●Smackdown Magazine Cover Shoot●
Obviously, this is John doing the Smackdown magazine cover shoot. It is actually for the very first ever Smackdown Magazine. It is shot is a hip-hop clothes shot, where John gears out on EVERYTHING!
There's a skinny little man on it that is quite entertaining and keeps being jealous of John's muscles!
This, again is only on for around 3 and half minutes.
●Cena And Eddie Guerrero In Singapore●
This is really funny.
It is Eddie and John in a Singapore restaurant and they haven't ordered anything in particular. They tell the chef to just bring anything over! So, the Chef keeps giving them all this Chinese/Japanese food. Sorry, I don't know where Singapore is. Singaporean food? Whatever! Anyways, lol, there's this really funny bit. Where the waitress brings them their starter, which is of course, soup, and John asks what it is and she tells him it's Shark Fin soup, and he thinks it's called Suck Me soup. Eddie corrects him and says, 'No, Shark Fin soup', really slow so John can understand, and then laughs at him. It has me in giggles whenever I watch it.
After their main meal, the waitress brings their desert which is Bird Spit or something like that, and John thinks it's a bird's nest so Eddie gives him this really funny look. Then John finds out it's Bird's Spit, and he says to Eddie, 'So basically, we're making out with a pigeon right now'. And Eddie just looks at him like he's thick and shakes his head, no. It's funny when you watch it.
At the end, John says he's sexually confused, and Eddie gives him the same look as when he said about making out with a pigeon. He says it because their main meal was something's testicle. All the way through, Eddie waits for John to try everything before he eats it. This runs for 3 and half minutes, and is a really funny clip.
●Battle Rap In Baghdad●
This is where the WWE were in Baghdad and John asks if anyone wants to battle rap him, so this young soldier wants to do it, so they have this short battle rap. This is one for around 4 minutes.
●COVER/INLAY/DESIGN●
The cover of the DVD is Orange, and has John Cena written in black, and Word Life written in white, both written on the left of the DVD. Beside the writing is John's padlock chain, which is quite big. It isn't a very eye catching cover. Only a bit, but I think that is just the orange colour.
Inside, you get a small sheet saying what is on the DVD. It is the same as the front cover except there are pictures of John at the right side of the sheet. On the back of the sheet, there is the Extras list. This is yellow and blue, and again, has 3 pictures of John on the left side of the sheet.
The inside of the cover doesn't have a style. It had adverts of other WWE DVD's which SilverVision have released (The DVD is a SilverVision presentation, and they do most of the WWE DVD's that get released.) The right side of the inside cover advertises 'Smackdown Here Comes The Pain' for PS2. The left of the inside cover has a few DVD titles including Tagged Classics, Monday Night War, Ric Flair, Mick Foley, The Best Ever Steel Cage Matches and a few more.
The back of the DVD cover is blue and yellow, and has black title writing, and white writing for smaller writing. This also has 3 pictures of John down the right side of it. Also, the back of the cover has the Copyright information and DVD compatibility.
All in all, quite a catchy look, but not 'brilliant'.
●MY OPINION●
I thought this DVD was like, Before They Were Superstars, something similar to Eddie Guerrero's DVD and Chris Benoit's DVD, but it isn't. I was expecting a full story of before John was a wrestler to now. I was disappointed about this.
As I have explained, when you click 'Yo! Hit It', or 'The Chapters', they are just John's freestyles which we see him do nearly every week. The only matches are the 5 on the Extras, which I was disappointed about, but they are good. I just fast forwarded the main play, which was JUST freestyles, because I was expecting more. The things what make up this DVD are the Extras, and they are only 15 minutes, or less than 10 minutes each, but nearly all of them are funny. They are the most entertaining thing on the DVD, besides the matches.
I would say buy this DVD if you are a Cena fan, but don't get mixed up like I did thinking it was a story of how he made it. It's far from that.

Advantages: Lots of Segments and Funny promos Disadvantages: very little wrestling action
A rather disppointing DVD compared to other stories done by WWE, such as Eddie, Chris Benoit , Rey Mysterio etc.
Pretty much goes through some of his feuds and matches, only showing him Rapping against and about opponents, but little ring action, bascialy the majority of the dvd is john cena hanging out with his freinds, playing playstation and freestyling. this dvd is for you if you like that, but if you want wrestling. then do not buy this dvd, ... ...in it that i enjoyed, but i did not enjoy them enough to feel satisfied with the DVD. overall, 5 matches, not and they are the extras. not enough wrestling action for me, a dvd about someones career and all we get is 5 matches nad an hour of him sitting rapping. ...
