to score Elia Kazan'sViva Zapata!(1952). North absorbed the country's musical culture in 1939, when he worked as a member of the Anna Sokolow dance company and as a student of Silvestre Revueltas (1899-1940).Zapata!shimmers with invention, though always in ways tied closely to situation and character. The heart of the score is "Gathering Forces", in which a rich, folk-like theme, first played by the cellos and assumed later by the French horns, helps Zapata graduate from peasant to revolutionary leader. Then there is thedolce e cantabilelove theme for Emiliano and Josefa, scored for oboe d'amore over chimes, bells and harp ("Zapata's Love"). This disc, the fourth in conductor Jerry Goldsmith's continuing series of North reconstructions, features the complete score as well as unused compositions. All of the familiar North-isms are represented, including his transparent orchestral textures, elaborate rhythms, high wind flourishes, native melodies, ethnic percussion and his use of heightened lyricism for emotional climaxes. Altogether,Viva Zapata!radiates with a piquancy that is North's genius to present and our fortune to receive.--Kevin Mulhall

...This Simpsons DVD is do with money and glamour, and contains four episodes; Homie The Clown from season six, Springfield from season five, Viva Ned Flanders from season ten and Homer at the Bat from season three. For me Homer at the Bat is the best episode on the DVD, although Homie The Clown is also very good. The most recent episode, Viva Ned Flanders, is one of the better episodes from season ten, where we get our first glimpse of Ned Flanders acting less then saintly.
'Homie The Clown' sees Homer enrol at the Krusty the Clown college. After driving to work, Homer becomes infatuated with an advertisement to join a Clown College. After becoming a clown, Homer becomes tired of the way he is treated by kids and adults alike, and ponders whether to quit. However, after he is let off a speeding ticket because he looks like Krusty...

...This year my husband has begun working with someone who remains a huge fan of Elvis Presley. This guy must have every film and recording that Elvis ever did. Hubby has been borrowing a few and this is how I came to sit down and watch Viva Las Vegas last week.
I was never much of an Elvis fan when I was younger. As a teenager of the 1960's I was just a little out of his fan base's age group . For me he was too clean cut. Well it shows you how wrong you can be. However with age I find I can appreciate just how good his voice was and just how beautiful in appearance he was, at some stages of his life.
I have seen Viva Las Vegas many years ago but nothing much apart from the theme tune had stayed memorable. Having said that I do not remember the theme tune music being as fast as it is. So viewing this movie about 40 years on what did I...

... Viva La Bam Complete Seasons 2 & 3
Feature Subtitles: English, Danish, Dutch, Finnish, French, German, Italian, Norwegian, Spanish, Swedish, Tukish.
Running Time Approx: 319 Minutes.
I have already done a review for Viva La Bam season 1, and have had some great ratings, and my first exceptional. So I am going to do a review of the Season 2 and 3 boxset. As stated in my Season 1 review, I have been watching since the first season started in 2005, and was a huge fan of it. But when it finished I missed if for a while but thankfully it didn't take too long for Season 2 then also not too long for Season 3 to be shown to hit the screens. The series sees Bam buying a new home, building a tree top casino and having a Demolition Derby in his back yard and then taking a 2-part trip to Mardi Gras.
I will review each episode from...
