Advantages: A swashbuckling charge down memory lane! Disadvantages: It isn't very PC and nor does it have great depth.
...'The Vikings' is a 1hr 51min movie from the 50s starring Kirk Douglas, available at a very low price on DVD.
Looking back in his autobiography, 'Climbing the mountain', Kirk Douglas had a lot to say about 'Spartacus'. I can see why because it was a huge movie with lots of gladiators forming an army to challenge even the mighty Romans. However, a film of his from the 50s that I loved dearly but which he hardly mentions, was 'The Vikings''. I like it more than 'Spartacus'.
Directed by Richard Fleischer, 'The Vikings' was released when I was four way back in 1958. It did the rounds of cinemas quite regularly in Birmingham in the following years which is how it was that when I was eight I found myself, wide-eyed and in awe of this movie. Why? Because the world it depicted was colourful, exciting and filled with larger than life...

Advantages: lovely graphics, amazing gameplay, fantastic sound, long game Disadvantages: little too much the same as the previous games
...Call of Duty 4: Modern Warfare was one of the greatest games I have ever played. Every aspect of this game blew me away, mainly the intense and fun game play. This game has been my most played game in my Xbox playing career. The single player career of this game allows for plenty of opportunities to go where you wish and complete missions as you see fit in your eyes. The game allows you to work with your army, as you call air strikes, bomb cities from an aerial view, or as you are using gorilla combat, up close and intense The game play never gets old, and is constantly changing and the player throughout the game.
The multiplayer mode in Call of Duty 4 consists of split screen mode, XBox Live mode, or system link mode, as most war games now have. There are plenty of game play options in the setup screen that will keep you occupied...

Advantages: Some decent moments, somehow kept me watching until the end Disadvantages: Mostly really bad across the board
...This is a DVD I picked up for £1 a couple of years ago. I suppose the price should have told me something, but I gave it a shot, hoping to have found a bit of a gem.
Face of Terror follows Nick Harper as he tries to find his missing sister in Barcelona. While travelling from the States to Spain without permission from his boss, cop Nick finds himself in even more hot water when he arrives in Europe to find that his sister had fallen in with the wrong crowd. As he trawls through dodgy photographers, drug dealers and terrorists, Nick realises he must have his wits about him if he is to find his sister before he loses his life.
Ultimately, it's distinctly average in nearly every way. with a pretty mundane plot, some terrible acting, and some bad timing in the editing stakes. And yet, strangely, there's something intriguing about it...
