View to a Kill [1985]
Roger Moore's last outing as James Bond is evidence enough that it was time to pass the ... more
torch to another actor. Beset by crummy action (an out-of-control fire engine?) and featuring a fading Moore still trying to prop up his mannered idea of style, the Film is largely interesting for Christopher Walken's quirky performance as a sort-of supervillain who wants to take out California's Silicon Valley. Grace Jones has a spookily interesting presence as a lethal associate of Walken's (in the best Bond tradition, she has sex with 007 before trying to kill him later) and Patrick Macnee (Steed!) has a warm if brief bit. Even directed by John Glen, who brought some crackle to the Moore years in the Bond franchise,A View to a Killis a very slight effort.--Tom Keogh

A View To A Kill
Roger Moore's last outing as secret agent James Bond begins in the usual off the wall style. Bond is being pusued across the snow by "unknown assailants" to the jolly tune of the Beach Boys "California Girls" before heading for a submarine discussed as an iceberg.
From here Bond is sent to Paris for a meeting; however the meeting is cut rather short when the person he is to meet is assassinated. Bond pursues ... ...happens to come complete with a parachute to aide her escape.
Bond is led into one of the most Awesome adventures yet, from a flaming building, to a racing day of death, from an exploding silicon mine, to a deadly encounter on a zeppelin. It also features two of the best villains in Bond history Max Zorrin and May Day; A View To A Kill Has It All.

Advantages: Fun cast, good stunts Disadvantages: Bit silly in places, quite long
A View To A Kill, first released in 1985, was the seventh and final film to feature Roger Moore as James Bond and the fourteenth entry in the franchise. The film is not widely regarded to be one of the strongest entries in the series, often cropping up near the bottom of Bond fan lists, but it is, in my opinion, an enjoyable piece of hokum that has more to enjoy than some would give it credit for. A View To A Kill's plot is essentially an update ... ...(Christopher Walken) and stumbles upon a scheme that proposes to flood oil wells along the San Andreas fault in California, set off explosives and destroy Silicon Valley. Such a scheme would of course make Zorin's business considerably more lucrative and unique. Along the way we get the usual stunts, chases, double entendres, girls, humour, one-liners, sadism and the general nonsense and fun that you'd expect from a Roger Moore James Bond film.

A View To A Kill Review ofA View To A Kill (Ultimate Edition) (DVD)by

Advantages: Plenty of action scenes Disadvantages: Roger Moore being too old
This is a good James Bond film and unlike Roger Moore's previous outings as James Bond this is more serous and has less sillyness to it thankfully. It starts off with a great ski hase as Bond tries to retrieve a micro chip from another OO. The next big sequence has the villian parachuting from the Eiffel Tower and Bond giving chase through the streets, where Bond "breaks every traffic law". Later in the film we see Bond trapped inside a burning building ... ...villian attempts to destroy Silicon Valley. With plenty of fight scenes thrown in between what I've menitioned. Christopher Walken gives an excellent performance as the vilian. The only problem I have with this film is that Rogers' old and wrinky. But still gives a excellent performance as OO7 ...
