James Bond (Roger Moore) must foil the plot of a diabolical scientist trying to control the world computer market by destroying California's Silicon Valley. Christopher Walken is...

Full review
As A View to a kill was the first Bond film I ever saw in the cinema and I have very good memories of it, I thought I should review this one.
This was made in 1985 and was Roger Moores last outing as James Bond, he did not really want to do this one as he thought that he was too old at this stage to play the part. The storyline was actually set up for the new Bond Timothy Dalton but there was a last minute hitch and the film Dalton was currently working on had been put on hold and unfortunately for him he could not get out of it to start his first Bond film. The producers had no option to persuade Roger to do his last one in the role.

This had a very good cast setting With Roger in the title role, Christopher Walken playing the main villain Max Zorin, Grace Jones as his sidekick Mayday, Tanya Roberts playing Bonds love interest Stacey Sutton, and the Bond regulars Desmond Llewelyn as Q, and Lois Maxwell as miss moneypenny

This was filmed in Pinewood studios in London, and had settings in Paris and San Francisco.
When filming in Paris it took a very long time to get planning permission for the jump from the Eiffel tower which would be the start of the film, but finally managed it. Grace Jones actually made the jump herself !! There are some excellent stunts and scenes throughout the film as the making of featurette will show you.

The film is about the main villain Max Zorrin who wants to take over the worlds microchip supply, Head HQ find out about Zorrin industries and send in Bond. His first assignment is to meet a connection in Paris at the top of the Eiffel tower, but he gets killed by an assassin. Bond gives chase as the assassin parachutes from the top of the Eiffel tower
There is a great chase through the streets of Paris with Bond in a taxi, and he finally sees the assassin land on a boat, he just misses his target. Turns out the assassin is Mayday, Zorrins second in charge.

In San Francisco Bond finds out where Zorrin is, he owns stables and racehorses, Bond finds an ally in Stacey Sutton who Zorrin is trying to buy off as he wants her land.
Without spoiling all the story for those who haven't seen it (is there anyone ?) Zorrin tries to kill Bond and Stacey in a fire in a lift at San Francisco's Majors office and try to frame them, needless to say Bond finds a way out. There are some great scenes in the streets of San Francisco as Bond is pursued driving a Fire engine !

The story goes to the Zorrins mines with Bond and Stacey in tow, Zorrins plan is to flood the west coast as he has found a way that he can have microchips of the worlds supply. (it will spoil the film if I tell you how and why)
There are spectacular scenes in the mines which Zorrin floods, then the blimp he tries to escape in with Stacey as hostage, needless to say Bond finds a way to save the day !

The title song is done from one of my favourite bands "Duran Duran" and this went to number 2 in the charts in 1985.

There are a lot of extra features on this disk, "Inside a view to a kill" documentary Deleted scenes, music video, trailers, "The bond sound" music documentary, and tv ads.
