...No reviews for Chopper ? Can't believe no one on Ciao has reviewed this classic Australian film Chopper yet, so it looks like I will be the first to do so. Chopper (DVD) Chopper is based on a true story about a notorious Australian criminal called 'Mark Chopper Read' who allegedly committed nineteen vicious murders and got away with it and surprisingly enough he wrote his autobiography whilst in jail which became a best selling book called 'From the Inside'. The film starts off very quickly,realistically and violently with 'Mark Chopper Read' played by Eric Bana (who I must say plays the part magnificently) serving one of his many prison sentences and it's not long before you see the wicked sense of humour he has and his dodgy mates. Advantages: Fantastic film, great directing

...car? Why would I shoot a bloke - bang! - then carry him to the bloody car and wizz him off to the hospital at a hundred miles an hour? It defeats the purpose of having shot him in the first place. I find that bloody insulting. Bana puts up a great performance for his first ever acting part. He brilliantly conveys the almost schizophrenic swinging of emotions that Chopper goes through. Stabbing a man and the instantly regretting it and wanting to help him and then going back to hating him. An excellent performance for any actor and especially stunning when you take into account this is his first ever acting role. Any one who has seen 'The Assassination of Jesse James by the Coward Robert Ford' will know that Andrew Dominick is a great director. He's one of the reasons why I bought this DVD. Disadvantages: insulting, sick minded

...I first saw most of this film at my girlfriends house but she wouldnt let me watch the rest of it because it was too gruesome for her and the violence was rather in your face. So I went out bought it instead, so I could watch it by myself. This film is dangerous excitement and stunning innovation all rolled into one. A sensational feature debut from director Andrew Dominik is an exhilirating sharp shock to the system revealing the no holes barred story of the notorious Ozzy criminal Mark 'CHOPPER' Read. Told in flashback as Read serves one of his many prison sentences, this extreme biography shows the brutality and wicked sense of humour of a man who alledgedly committed 19 murders and got away with them.
