The Battle of Britain: For 'the few'
Review of Battle Of Britain (Special Edition) by  alexdg1

Advantages: Great aerial photography, stirring score, fine all-star cast
Disadvantages: Some subplots are a bit dire....

...to stand in for their 1940 forbears. Nor do I find fault with the now outdated visual effects; yes, some of the explosions (particularly of crashing planes and the big bombing raid on London at night) look cartoony, but, again, this film was made in 1969, not 2005...or even 1999. The MGM 2003 DVD release is a bit lacking in the critical areas of sound (it's okay but not exactly earthshaking) and extra features, since the only such offering is the original theatrical trailer. Heck, it doesn't even bring a chapter list or one of those trivia-filled booklets such as those in the MGM Home Entertainment DVDs of The Great Escape and A Bridge Too Far. Nevertheless, its restoration to widescreen places The Battle of Britain's DVD version head and shoulders above the fullscreen VHS videotape edition.... Read review

Take That, Red Baron!
Review of A Boy Named Charlie Brown DVD by  Shroud

Advantages: family film sitable for all, well written, fantastic musical score
Disadvantages: None

...and ally against the neighbour's cat World War Two. Snoopy also had a rich fantasy life in which his doghouse is a WWII Sopwith Camel fighter plane with him cast as a flying ace battling it out with the legendary Red Baron and having adventures behind enemy lines. Peanuts made the leap from print to television in 1961 when Ford commissioned black and white advertisements for their new Ford Falcon car. The animator, Bill Melendez, became friends with Schultz during production and together with producer Lee Mendelson and with Coca Cola as a corporate sponsor, they created the very first of the TV specials, A Charlie Brown Christmas, which aired in 1965. Six TV specials and eight years later, the first of the animated feature length films was to appear: A Boy Named Charlie Brown. ~~~~The Film~~~ 1969 was a year of changes. People began... My Preciousssss DVD
Review of The Lord Of The Rings - The Fellowship Of The Ring DVD by  Johnny-Phoenix

Advantages: Great Action, Great Acting Just Great
Disadvantages: Sound possibly

...of the speech went down with it and vice versa, let me know in my comments box if others notice this. The special effects are brilliant with computer graphics used to animate larger battle scenes flawlessly put together with an army of extras. Special Features ************* One of the attractions of choosing DVD over video is the special features and to be honest with the exception of Die Hard, I have been very disappointed with the fact that the a lot of DVD’s have underused this facility. Fellowship of the Ring is a great exception. There are hours of special features Music Video from Enya with clips of the film used as a backdrop for a superbly haunting tune called “May it Be”. Enya has got a great voice and it suits the clips they have used brilliantly. Behind the scenes documentaries galore, although... Read review
