Advantages: Clean, comfortable and friendly Disadvantages: Traffic noise
I was working down in Cambridge a few weeks ago and the company thoughtfully pre-booked me accommodation at the Victoria Guest House on Arbury road. Rather more thoughtlessly, I was working at the opposite end of the city, so convenience was not their prime consideration.
Arbury Road leads off from the inner ring road and is, in fact, relatively handy for the city centre (the north side, at least). Still, I'm getting paid for sitting in a traffic jam, so what do I care?
The guest house occupies two former semi-detached Victorian villas in an area of similar houses. It's a fairly busy road and parking is quite limited.
As I said, I was pre-booked so it was only a matter of turning up at the door and introducing myself to the owner who was very welcoming. During the course of our chat, he gave me some local info then mentioned there ...
Advantages: First-class acting and a host of star names Disadvantages: Twp slip-ups in the date department [see review]
Condensing the story of Queen Victoria and Prince Albert into a three-hour film (BBC TV, two parts, August 2001, repeated in one part, September 2002) can have been no easy task. But this star-studded costume drama did the job superbly, leaving this viewer at least with little to criticise.
A costume drama needs a good, entertaining story to hook the viewer. The dialogue has to be effective, neither too stilted nor dumbed down into irretrievable silliness. To take a fairly recent example, that abysmal ‘Bertie and Elizabeth’, about King George VI and the Queen Mother, was a classic example of how NOT to do it. If a well-known historical subject is the theme, it should follow the facts as faithfully as it can, bearing in mind that a lengthy story needs to be shoehorned into a comparatively small frame. Last but not ...

I bought this dvd about 3 months ago on Ebay.
After loving his hit series 'PHOENIX NIGHTS',and watching 'Live at the Bolton Albert Halls',about two years previously I knew he was a class act, with a unique comedy style of his own.
It wasnt up until just randomly coming across it on Ebay that I was reminded what a great and hilarious talent he is.
I payed only 0.99p for the dvd, which had been used previously, but had come in great condition.
Only yesterday,I saw it in HMV for 6 pounds, which is great value for such a great installment of laughs.
The DVD is called 'Peter Kay,Live at the Bolton Albert Halls,as part of his 'Mum wants a Bungalow Tour'.
Bolton being his home town,it was bound to be a sell-out
It's filmed as part of his sell out ,180 date tour that spanned 9 months and was seen by 300,000 people.

DVD Description
A dramatic miniseries featuring an acclaimed, superstar cast, VICTORIA & ALBERT is a history-based love story which tells of the passionate romance between the two royal figures. This epic production recaptures the court life of Victorian England with beauty and accuracy. In addition, it adds new light to the legendary character of Victoria (Victoria Hamilton), portraying her as young and full of life, as opposed to the repressed elderly woman often depicted in British culture. The TV movie also stars Jonathan Firth, Jonathan Pryce, Peter Ustinov, Nigel Hawthorne, and Diana Rigg.
