Full review
Every year, I set myself a target to try and tone up for my summer holiday in July... I have never suceeded. But this year I am determined to, so, after seeing all the adverts on TV for workout DVD's, I decided I might give one a go.

I looked on play.com to see which ones were available and came across, Vicky Binns, Dance It Off. (Otherwise known as Molly in Corrie) This was priced at £12.99 but then i remembered that I had a £10 voucher for HMV, so decided to order it from there. So overall, £2.99 wasn't bad.

It arrived on a Tuesday and decided to do it that night.

The DVD cover has a photo of Vicky before and after, and you can tell that she has lost a lot of weight. She was previously 10 stone and has danced her way to 7 stone 10lbs.

On the back, it shows pictures from the workout and a list of the different sections on the DVD. These are:

STREET HEAT
Get, warm, burn calories with street dance and aerobic moves.

URBAN BURN
Crank up the fat burning with 15 minutes of hi-intensity street dance.

POWER GROOVE
Burn fat big time with 15 minutes of dance and power moves.

CORE CRUNCH
Serious toning for abs, arms and bum.

Okay, now to the DVD itself.
When you insert the DVD into the player, the pink, main navigation screen comes up, accompanied with upbeat, funky music.
You can either select to play all sections or just choose selected ones.
You can also choose to watch Vicky's eating plan, but I'll comment more on that later.

When you first press play, an introduction comes up, which is of Vicky doing some of the moves which are included in the workout.

STREET HEAT (Warm up)
Once Vicky has introduced herself and her trainer, Rachel Ravenscroft, we start on the warm up.
This includes some squatting, side stepping and grapevines as well as many other aerobics moves.
This really does get you warmed up and by the end my heartbeat was up and I was feeling quite sticky and clammy. I found the moves pretty easy to follow in this routine and picked them up the first time as they weren't too complicated.

URBAN BURN
This is the first workout section.
Some of the moves included in this was:
  • Side lunges
  • Jumping
  • Hip thrusts
  • Knee lifts
  • Grapevines

This section really does get your heart rate up and I had to stop for a rest half way through as I was knackered! Extremely sweaty by the end, but I did feel that I had completed a lot of fat burning excercises.
Some of the moves did confuse me a little bit but after a couple of attempts, you soon get the hang of them.

On this section, I found that at some points, the camera wasn't aiming for where you wanted it to be. For example, when the trainer tells you to tap forward, the camera doesn't actually show you how Vicky and Rachel are doing it, so you're not sure if you are doing it right.

POWER GROOVE
This is the routine that I found the most strenuous. My legs felt like jelly after completing this. Some of the moves that are included are:
  • Boxing
  • Pilometrics (jumping around)
  • Jumping jacks
  • Squats
  • Grapevines
  • Knee lifts
  • knee curls
  • Jogging
  • Hopping

This routine really does give you a good workout, and you can feel it working. I found in this section that I sometimes had to stop and pause the DVD while I tried to work out the movements because some of them are fast and hard to keep up with.

CORE CRUNCH
This is my favourite section of the DVD as it is the most relaxing and doesn't leave you all sweaty and out of breath.
First off, is the press ups. Now I've never been a fan of press ups because I can't actually do them. But hopefully, after I've done this DVD a few times, I'll get there in the end!

You also do toning for the legs, bum and stomach. After the stomach toning, you can feel your tummy muscles, which I suppose is a good thing!

Also included is stretching, which always feels good after a workout.

My opinion on this section is that more toning excersises could of been used, especially for the legs, as you only do four different moves.

VICKY'S EATING PLAN
As many people know, you also need to eat a well balanced diet, aswell as regular excercise.

Now I always find it hard to follow eating plans because when I'm at college or work, I can't always prepare myself a salad or whatever. The same with the evening meals, as my Mum prepares it.

Vicky's eating plan instructs you to choose one of the meals for breakfast, lunch and dinner aswell as a snack.
It also instructs you to drink 600ml of milk a day plus at least 8 glasses of water a day. Another thing is to fill up on veggies, but avoid parsnips, potatoes, peas and baked beans.

OTHER INFO
Soundtrack
All the music on this DVD has been especially composed for this workout, so there is no up to date stuff, or anything that you will recognise. The music that is played for the first three workout sections is upbeat and funky.
For the core crunch section, it is more relaxed and not as upbeat.

MY OPINION
I have completed this workout three times and it does get easier the more times you do it.

Even though the DVD is titled Dance It Off, I wouldn't really say the excersises that you do is dancing, more aerobic styles. Well put it this way, you wouldn't be doing these moves in the nightclubs!

Overall, this does give you a good workout and I can tell that it tones a lot of the fat gathering areas. I do hope that, after a few weeks/months or so I can see the results and the pounds dropping off. I shall comment on that on this review in a few weeks time. Your muscles do ache in the morning, but I suppose this is a good thing as it shows it's working! But, as I keep telling myself, no pain, no gain!
