Story Ray, the town freak and truck driver, never hurt anyone, until the night of a freak accident. A car hangs from a bridge, a vodoo doctor inside, Ray saves her, but she begs for him to save her bag (Which she had recently dug up from a graveyard). Ray go's to get her bag, but gets trapped within the car. As he descends into the water below, Ray is bit by a group of snakes that escape from her bag. Strangely a few days later his body has gone missing from the morge, and so have two morticans and a police officer. Eden (Agner Bruckner) begins to spot Ray's truck, suspicous she seeks answer, and is soon thrown into a violent struggle to surrive with the vodoo doctors grandaughter Cece (Meagan Good). What I love about this film is instead of doing what every other slasher has done recently (Mimic Scream) it has gone back further and in the taste of the old eighties slashers, and a dash of vodoo, to keep it orignal, brought to us a fun horror romp that anyone can enjoy if they gave it the time of day 9/10
Location Location The films location is excellent, set within the swampy forest's of America, the perfect feel for a film centered around vodoo 9/10
Charchters Ray is excellent, as soon as you hear those key's jangle you know that something is going to kick off and it always delivers. Eden is your typical lead, but is played well. 8.5/10
Blood, Gore And Sex Blood and gore isn't in it's heavey doses, but there is some and the murder scenes are orignal and fun. Sex is mild 7/10
Soundtrack Not life changing, the highlight was Rob Zombie's Two Lane Blacktop 7.5/10
So is it a good film? - This type of film is a guarnted winner when friends come over, it's exciting and the thrills never stop from begining to end, Ray is a good villan, it's set in a wonderful location and has an orignal plot that takes a nod at eighties slashers, recomended 89%
Advantages: Sarah's Stunning Voice.....plus her music of course.. Disadvantages: Very Emotional at times......may bring tears to your Eyes...
and compete with the vocals that Sarah is spitting out with some venom and pure emotion too. It's a wonderful sight and sound all round......
All of a sudden we get to, what I call the " killer " track on this DVD, and its called " Angel " which sees Sarah sitting at the piano, playing this solo, its an absolute classic piece of music, and you may well remember it from the T.V. series " Angels in America " and its totally captivating , you can hear a pin drop, and not a dry eye in the House, pass the Kleenex....
After this track, you may think the Concert will start to fade away, not a hope in Hell of that happening at all. The Band and Sarah seem to get a new lease of life, and really get down to play some more stunning material, and I must admit to being totally impressed with the musicianship in this Band, most of whom I have never heard ...
Advantages: Good quality animation, good subtitles Disadvantages: Very bad English dubbing
This DVD contains the three episodes;
*Engage: Six - Seven
*Venom's Fire
*Deep Trap
As you can imagine by this stage in the series (epps 19-21 of 24) we are starting to near the end of it all. This DVD starts to see all the plot threads pulled together but doesn't show any of the needed plot twists just yet. The episode titles give the idea that something suspicious is going on and that the Party of the last episode is well and truly over. This is most definitely the case.
Episode 19.
As I have said the first episode on this disc starts to draw together the plot and background information pieces that we've come into contact with so far. This episode is in no way siniser. It looks at the past of Sousake and Weber and why Mao chose them to join Mithril. As you will have come to expect by now, no episode goes by without at least ...
Director Jim Gillespie's hit slasher film from 1997, I KNOW WHAT YOU DID LAST SUMMER, saw four teens being stalked by a shadowy figure. In 2005, Gillespie helms VENOM, a further entry into the stalk-and-slash genre that sees the director returning to familiar ground. The plot follows a group of teenagers who meet their maker, or narrowly escape the clutches of a mysterious stalker. Set in Louisiana, voodoo has rippled through a local graveyard, and sucked up all the evil spirits of the dead who lie there, depositing them in a suitcase full of snakes. When local bad boy Ray (Rick Cramer), who is the scourge of the town's teen population, meets a grizzly demise in a car accident, the snakes are unleashed and Ray (AKA Mr. Jangles, so called because he collects keys from his dead victims) is resurrected. A few notable names, such as Bijou Phillips (ALMOST FAMOUS) and hip-hop star Method Man, feature among the cast as Mr. Jangles goes about his kill-crazy rampage, and Gillespie tweaks the plot to allow unexpected twists and turns to unfold. Plenty of violence and bloodletting ensues, while the lack of a post modern SCREAM-style approach to the film makes for a refreshing change, delivering a gratifying little shocker that contains enough gore and guts to appease horror fans.
