Complications arise when an aspiring college-rag journo (Tara Reid--the girlfriend of the wimpy one inAmerican Pie) shows an interest, and Van begins to question his bachelor-boy lifestyle.ThoughVan Wilder: Party Liaisoncontains the occasional clever line ("at least Ms Pacman swallows") and a nice self-referential appearance from Tim Matheson--the original college lothario from the archetypal (and still the best) frat-kids movie,Animal House--it's still fundamentally flawed. It's difficult, for one thing, to believe in the appalling central character's great popularity with his peers--the Fonze he ain't. It's also evident that Reynolds has watched one too many Jim Carrey performances, while Reid's role reduces her to being little more than insubstantial eye-candy. The film's makers have been so anxious to get in all the required references (pot-smoking, bodily functions and nudity) that they've forgotten to make it any good. Worse, along the way it takes cheap gratuitous pot shots at the disabled, the ugly, the old and the obese.Though it purports to be a "party-on" parable, then, its predictably corny denouement and the conventional values it ultimately espouses reek of Republican morality. Needless to say when Van reads the story he isn't pleased as it makes him come across as a loser so he challenges Gwen to see if she can find the out the truth about him all the while gettin closer to her. But there is one little problem in the way, Gwens pre-med boyfriend, Richard.
Richard being a wealthy fraternity brother thinks he is powerful enough to stop Gwen and Van meeting, and get Van expelled. Suddenly things start to go terribly wrong for Van , its then he realises he may need to do something really wild to keep his good name, and Graduate!

A really hilarious movie, disgustingly so at times (with a certain 'cream' bun incident). Van Wilder Party Liason provides constant laughs.
Ryan Reynolds is very convincing as the charming, sexy and suave Van Wilder and is well suited to that type of role. He has a boy next door look mixed in with a huge amount of sex appeal. The guy that most men would like to be- so i'm told!
Tara Reid is incredibly beautiful and looked stunning throughout the entire movie, which if you ask me just isn't right!!! Sometimes she is as life like as a piece of cardboard but still doesn't, i think, take anything from the movie.
Van Wilder: Party Liason is one of those comedies that will always stick in your mind, if only for some of the hilarious pranks.I personally think it is as good as, if not, better than the American Pie movies. Although i have to say this won't cater to everyone's tastes, not one to watch if you have a weak stomach! Watch the movie and decide for yourself!

Story : Van Wilder is in his 7th year at cooledge graduate school.
He is the big man on campus, an intelligent, witty, good lucking and extremely popular playboy. He loves the school and organises various fundraisers for such good causes as saving the swim team. However his piece d'resistance is his ability to throw the best party's around. Enter Gwen, a highly ambitious journalist writing for her school paper. Her latest assignment ... ...his new found assistant Taj, Van sets out to earn money the best way he knows how, throwing parties. What ensues is a race to meet payments, while being confronted and hassled by Gwen's increasingly jealous boyfriend Richard. Will Van get the money, or will Dick succeed.

Van Wilder loves college. He loves it so much, that he has been going there for seven years. He is "the man" on campus, all the guys want to be him, and all the girls just want him! It's not about the learning, it's about the socialising. He even has a personal assistant to help co-ordinate his activities.
Then his father, finally realising that his son is yet to graduate, decides to cut off his college tuition fees. But Van is an enterprising dude ... ...scoop of the year. Unfortunately Van isn't interested in being interviewed but he IS interested in Gwen. However, her boyfriend, the absurdly anal Richard, isn't too happy about this and vows to bring Van down. As a result of this, Van has to fight for the girl AND for the chance to stay in college, as well as work out what it is he really wants from life. ...all spawned from one film, Van Wilder: Part liaison. The film was released in 2002 as a comedy and was directed by Walt Beckers.
The lead male role is played by Ryan Reynolds, an at the time fairly new actor who has since continued to play similar comedy based roles in films such as 'Just Friends'. Tara Reid plays the lead female role, best know for her performances in the American Pie films and Cruel Intentions.
Plot -
The film starts as it means ... ...We immediately see that Van is an incredibly popular and highly respected young man; he has been at Coolidge College for seven years and in that time has made quite a name for himself. He is so popular he even has assistant auditions; the lucky candidate gets to help Van with the planning of fundraising events for charity, parties and Vans general admin. what id expect of Ryan Reynolds. Its also a nice love story, you can see all the way through how they both feel about it but they just cant see it themselves. Its hilarious when the film shows you him in high school. Definately a must see movie if you like your chick flick comedy.

This box set is made up of 3 films. Quite clearly Bill and Ted is the stand out film. In my humble opinion this is (and will always be) Keanu Reeves best ever film (where is Alex Winters now?). It has some of the most quoteable lines in current (and all time) film history. I just hope that one day they make another Bill and Ted. VanWilder is OK in places - but just a bit slow overall and it does not really get going. Slackers is OK if you fancy a bit of light entertainment for ninety minutes and for what it is, it is mildly amusing. This package is not totally bidacious - it is just OK. ...
Van Wilder (Ryan Reynolds) is a college stud who is in no rush to finish his coursework and graduate. In fact, after six years of partying his way through Coolidge College, his parents have decided to stop paying his tuition, but Van Wilder isn't worried--he just needs to find a way to pay it himself and keep the fun coming. His fundraising ideas include a topless tutorial service and other raunchy schemes, which only help add to Van's "Big Man on Campus" status. A romance develops between Van and Gwen (Tara Reid), who is writing an investigative piece on Van for the school newspaper. Through his exploits, Van eventually begins to turn over a new leaf, and finally grow up. But not before there are plenty of opportunities for the kind of gross-out humor that teen flicks like THERE'S SOMETHING ABOUT MARY and AMERICAN PIE have made so popular in recent years. The main set piece here involves dog semen injected into eclairs. While this is not exactly highbrow fare, teen audiences who are not too squeamish will enjoy this bawdy college romp.
