Visitors who claim to come in peace are revealed to be nothing but reptilians in human skin bent on human conversion and conquest. As in the dark days of Fascism, some collaborate with the enemy; others form the Resistance. At the time, the epic scale of this production was unprecedented. The special effects are still awesome: those 50 mother ships that hover over the Earth's major cities anticipateIndependence Dayby more than a decade. Less so is the often-hackneyed dialogue. But thanks to their signature roles, the mostly no-star cast (most of whom would be reunited for a sequel and subsequent television series) have ensured themselves standing invitations to sci-fi conventions for the rest of their lives. Marc "Beastmaster" Singer is cameraman-turned-freedom fighter Mike Donovan; Julie Parrish is a medical student-turned-Resistance leader; Richard Herd is the Visitor's Supreme Commander ("Call me John"); Jane Bradler is Diana, the ravishing, but ruthlessly ambitious Visitor Science Officer; Leonardo Cimino lends dignity to his heavy-handed allegorical role as a Holocaust survivor. Look for a pre-Freddy Krueger Robert Englund as one of the aliens.--Donald Liebenson, Amazon.com

The visitors are continuing to manipulate world opinion so that few believe that they are reptiles in disguise but when pregnant robin finds out the truth she goes into a panic and demands an abortion but will it go ahead or is it too good an oportunity to resist.........

This series shows how with strong will and determination a small group of people can find others and release a world from total domination.
It is rated a 15 which is probably a bit harsh as a 12 would have probably sufficed.
Even though by todays standards it is outdated in the costumes and hairstyles etc the effects and sets were ahead of their times and would not look out of place in a modern movie.
I find this a brilliant mini series which can be watched again and again and would reccommend to anyone wanting a good science fiction series.
Advantages: Over 4 1/2 Hours Of Superb Entertainment Disadvantages: Disappointing Lack Of Extra's
The final 3 parts of the mini series in a 2Disc Dvd represent excellent value of money. The dvds have a lack of features nil really except from the languages and subtitles. But really who can complain as most will be grateful that this is now availible on dvd.
The picture and sound are what you would expect from a dvd although rather dissapointed there was no 5.1 sound only 2.0 surround but nonetheless still provided me with the best viewing experience ...

DVD Description
The epic television miniseries comes to an explosive conclusion as a motley force of humans makes a final stand against the reptilian visitors who intend to harvest them as food and use the earth as a giant water cooler. The cast of the original series, including Marc Singer, Faye Grant, Jane Badler, and Robert Englund, returns, with the notable addition of Michael Ironside as tough guy Ham Tyler.
