Another cracking Jet Li performance. I'm sorry but a lot of my friends do not like Jet Li and I personally think that he is fantastic especially when his predecessor was Bruce Lee. Hard footsteps to follow. Jet teamed up with Morgan Freeman and Bob Hoskins in this intense action thriller.
I must start by saying that I have never ever seen any of this directors movies but now that I have seen this one I will definitely be looking out for some more of his work. Well done to Louis Leterrier for pulling of an excellent action flick witch was shot in a very stylish way. Well done that man.
Bob Hoskins plays character that the would not normally play giving his short and fat frame. He plays a gangster in Glasgow. I know it seems a bit surreal but this man pulls it off to a T. He is like a jack Russel, Small but can bark very loud.
He used to see a chinese prostitute and unfortunately for her she passes away by one means or another if you know what I mean and being the nice guy that he is, decides to take care of her little son. The poor boy does not know whats coming to him. He is trained like a dog, basically if he has got the collar on he is soft as puppy muck, but take it off and he will kill whoever his master tells him to. Not really my kind of person but there you go. They use this poor man to there advantage by robbing small time crooks. Alls going well until one day Danny(Jet Li) starts to ask questions about his mum and other family memebers. Of course they tell him a pack of lies and keep him exactly where they want him.
In the end Danny sees what is happening to him and eventually manages to escape these animals and runs free. He has a passion for music and finds himself in a music room full of untuned piano's. He soon makes friends with a nice man who tunes these instruments and is taken in by him. He actually for once in his life starts to be happy. Everything is great for him until his old master finds out where he is and decides to try and get his pet boy back at any cost. I for one could see this coming a mile off but there go.
The DVD itself is packed with extras such as the usual 'The Making Of, Cut Scenes, Out-Takes, A music video by RZA and an interesting look at how the sound affects were created. As far as DVD extras go these ones are actually worth looking at. Unfortunately i'm not aware of all the music artists in this movie but I can tell that the music is very well suited for this movie. Overall this is an excellent movie that is filmed in a way that you can only believe when you see, Very stylish an modern. Definatly worth a buy and certainly worth watching.

very good review, i have seen all of jet li's mainstream movies and quite a few of his hong kong/chinese movies and hes a great actor as well as a brilliant martial artists and a nice man to boot
