I am absolutely addicted to The Vicar Of Dibley and when I opened this up at Christmas I was over the moon! This is the latest DVD box set and in my opinion is brilliant as it has every episode created (including the comic relief short episodes) and has the story of Dibley in which the people involved in the comedy show talk about their experiences whilst filming.
If you haven't heard of The Vicar Of Dibley (shame on you!) then I'll give you a quick overview.
The British sitcom was aired on the 10th November 1994 and the last episodes Christmas 2006. It is still popular and is repeated on UKTV Gold today.
Characters
Geraldine Granger - Dawn French David Horton - Gary Waldhorn Hugo Horton - James Fleet Alice Horton (nee Tinker) - Emma Chambers Jim Trott - Trevor Peacock Owen Newitt - Rodger Lloyd Pack Frank Pickle - John Bluthal Leticia Cropley - Liz Smith
In the middle of a church service the 90 year old Reverend Pottle passes away and the Dibley Parish Council receive a new vicar. When the vicar turns up at Dibley Manor House one rainy night, David Horton (district councellor) is outraged. Geraldine, however, proves them wrong and rather than having the previous 5 people in the church, it's full. They keep her and over the years David takes a liking to her. In fact he changes his dress style and personality and proposes to her in one episode! He gets turned down...aww.
Throughout all the episodes Geraldine has been the Easter Bunny, fallen in love with David's brother Simon Horton, given up chocolate for lent, chained herself to the church and in the end marries "The Handsome Stranger", who Geraldine describes as a "towny tosser" before she has even met him!
All the characters are a bit looney in these ways: Jim Trott - Says " No no no no no" before he says what he wants to say Frank Pickle - The most boring bore in the history of boring bores David Horton - Can be a bit of a meanie especially about his son Hugo and his Daughter - in - law Alice Hugo Horton - A bit "doolally" allways wears a shirt and tie even under a jumper Alice Horton - " A genetically modified stick insect" as described by David. She is Geraldine's best friend and has the mental age of a 5 year old! Leticia Cropley - Whenever she makes food there is always a strange ingredient inside... Geraldine Granger - Possibly the only nearly sane person in the village!
I really do recommend this product as it has all the features in it and will give you hours of laughs.

This is just a list of characters and not really a review of the box set at all. I would have liked to read more about the different seasons, how the show developed over the years, favourite episodes and so on.
