The show about the secrative Special Air Service, one of the most renound regiments in the British Army. The SAS are one of the most elite forces in the world, having seen action in places such as Oman and Iraq during the Gulf War. This is a show about one thing only-action and plenty of it and follows the team on missions at home and abroad.
This is action all action from the explosive start to episode one to the finale of episode 4 bangs and bullets abound. If this is the sort of show you enjoy then ultimate force is for you! There are no soppy storylines, the one time any sort of romance creaps in between his captain and one of his men sargernt Henno played by Ross Kemp brutally puts ends the relationship in a "friendly fire" incident when he "accidentally" puts five rounds into the middle of the captains chest with an AK47 and calmly calls "Man Down".
Former Eastenders hardman Ross Kemp plays the tough Sergeant who is a man officers look to for guidance due to his experience and often leads red troop into the heart of battle.
This show does a fantastic job showing off the soldiers of the S.A.S. very favourably even though some of the antics may not always be strictly legal they get the job done. But i think that it is the less desirable of their actions that makes the show so believable and adds massively to the storyline. Whilst some of what happened in this show may not be what the S.A.S. gets up to in real life, it is still a fantastic show which portrays the S.A.S. how they deserve to be portrayed-as courageous soldiers.
It is impossible to mention all the story lines and I would not want to spoil the suprise but they tend to be quite topical, from aircraft hijacks, Stopping the release of a lethal anthrax mutation, infiltrating an anti-capitalist group and a life-or-death bank siege are among the missions facing the team.
I love this show and they are excellent to watch, it is the sort of show that even if your attention strays for a few minutes you are still able to understand what is happening which reflects the show really - uncomprimising and straightforward.
The DVDs are well put together and Menus easily navigatable.
All the DVDs come with production booklets

This is a very good show which I hope gets a fifth series.
Advantages: Excellent storyline and special effects, Well developed characters Disadvantages: Tendency to rabble, nationalist humour
...for the past few years. Ultimate force plays well of the auora of mystery that surrounds the SAS. Although the dialouge does start to drift into the usual technical-jargon banter that occurs during this genre of television it more than makes up for it with its stunning special effects and deeply involved storyline that hooks in the viewer right from the start. A must for fans of any action or sci-fi series produced in the past or any ex-millitary ... ...value rather than acting as padding to make up for a mediocre ammount /quality of work. Due to its nature if you are of US origin i would advise against a purchase unless you have a good sense of humour as they play off american faults with sything british humour. ...
