Now, I'm no very into the whole SAS thing, I don't like action films/documentaries/programmes of any sort! But......This DVD box set is fantastic. I got married three months ago, and since being married, my Husband (who is in the army) has developed an interest in the whole SAS thing, hence buying this box set. I wasn't really that enthusiastic about watching it to be honest, he wanted to, so we put it on and..............now I'm obsessed!
Basically, it's about the SAS doing different jobs, putting their lives in danger, shooting people, etc. etc. Everything I had assumed the SAS would do really. But, this one is helped along by the actors, who are all fantastic actors. Ross Kemp (ex Eastender - Grant Mitchell) He plays basically the same sort of role that he did in Eastenders - tough, hard-man but with an adorable soft side! My husband is seriously regretting buying the box set now, I'm actually in love with Ross Kemp! There's also the amazingly cute Jamie Draven who is in the up and coming new programme on ITV soon - Mobile! He plays Jamie Doyle, the silent yet strong type who has a fling with the only female member of the regiment - Caroline! There's also Gem, who helps the show along with his witty, yet incredibly chauvanistic charm! There's Pete who gets shot and tries to strangle his wife in his sleep, the CO who's hilarious, and many more. This programme isn't just action, action, action, shooting, swearing, bombs. It's also hilariously funny, there's a few tearful moments too, a wee love story, a love triangle, angry moments everything! It's the whole package! The characters are all people you would have come across in real life, so you can almost relate to them, and obviously with the exception of the SAS jobs, you can relate to most of the story lines too. It almost becomes political in some places too, but not too much!
Overall, I was thoroughly impressed, the acting is brilliant, the characters are fab and the storylines aren't bad either. Too far out for "real-life" but stuff you can imagine the SAS doing!
So, I'm now waiting to buy Series 4! One thing I can warn you though, don't get too involved with the characters, one way or another, they leave the "best regiment, in the best army in the world!"
Go out and buy this one folks, whether you are male or female, it's great! Definately an all-rounder!
