Advantages: Hot Sarah Michelle Geller Disadvantages: The ending was a bit of a let down
...Cruel Intentions had won me over from the start with "Every Me, Every You" by Placebo as the opening track. We meet Sebastian Valmont a young man who is extremely wealthy and arrogant. He seduces women for fun and then discards them as a sort of game and even uses seduction as a weapon as we see when we meet him first he's leaving the office of an angry psychiatrist who has been over charging.
His step-sister, Kathryn, is not dissimilar. When we first meet her she is in a meeting with a mother of a girl who is just entering the school Kathryn is head-girl of. They are all clearly of New York's upper class of the Upper-East. Kathryn agrees to take on the girl Cecile but despite the innocent performance Kathryn puts up for the mother her true intentions aren't so honourable. Kathryn's ex-boyfriend dumped her for Cecile and Kathryn...

Advantages: Fascinating case, Fuhrman is a really interesting guy Disadvantages: Plodding and unconvicing film
...without a cinema run. The second reason is that the film is very linear, it's a murder film without any real violence or horror, because that's not what the film is about.
So the film in my view falls between being entertainment and a documentary programme, because it's neither. I'd really rather watched this having been made in a documentary style, but because the murder of the girl was real, it is difficult to gain any "enjoyment" from it being a horror film.
The DVD has very few extras, just the standard sub-titles and a couple of trailers. I've mentioned in the past in my reviews that I always like extras as I believe that they add some extra depth to the film, and so it's disappointing that there aren't any on this DVD. I suppose however that this is understandable given the low production costs and the intention in making the film a non...

...After a major botch-up, a group of French criminals, led by Daniel Foray, are sent to Chicago by their boss. Their task is to rob a house in Chicago, known to have plenty of priceless jewellery in the safe. Unfortunately, they manage to break into the wrong house and tie up the owner, who just happens to be the head of the local Mafia, Frankie Zametti. As a result, Zametti declares war on the gang, and he is not the only one. The FBI, another gang of criminals and a gang of local thugs are also after the French crowd, who by now, just want to get back to Paris. Have they bitten off more than they can chew?
I picked this DVD up because it stars Harvey Keitel and Gerard Depardieu, but didn't have particularly high expectations of it - I hadn't heard of it for a start and I bought it from Poundland, which is not really known for its high...
