UMD Movie Pack - Silent Hill/Resident Evil/Hitman (DVD)

Advantages: No need for subtitles ;-)
Disadvantages: Probably stretched the joke out for too long

...Now how to describe Silent Movie....well it's exactly what it says in the title: A silent movie (surprised?). In fact, it's a silent movie about the making of a silent movie! What a twist ! I'm sure Mel Brooks took a risk making this in the mid 70s...although I doubt it is classed as a geniune silent movie as there is one word of dialogue (and plenty of over the top sound effects!). Brooks stars as Mel Funn a has-been producer who's trying to get a studio to be interested in making the first silent film in 40 years. He finds a near bankrupt studio,who are willing to take the risk. The movie continues as Mel and his 2 friends played by Dom DeLuise (how many Brooks movies is this guy in!) and Marty Feldman chase around Hollywood looking for stars for the movie. Disadvantages: Confusing story

...My son aged 11 and myself watched this movie last night not knowing what to expect as we had not heard of the game or really what the DVD was about. I was ready to pack my son off to bed but never really felt the need and he was very pleased to survive to the end of the movie with only a few jumps and starts. The story starts off with a daughter(Sharon) who is a bit messed up and a mother(Rose) who wants to help Sharon out of her illusions and nightmares. Rose ends up taking Sharon to Silent Hill which is a town that had been evacuated due to a coal fire beneath it. When they arrive at Silent Hill Sharon disappears and Rose has to look for her in silent hill. A policewoman gets involved and tries to help out. The policewoman does try to take Sharon out of the town, but they are cut off. Every so often in the town a siren... Read review
