Tygers Of Pan Tang - Visions From The Cathouse DVD

Advantages: Better than expected, a good 'biopic', better than Big Fish
Disadvantages: Could have explored some relationships more deepy

...Finding Neverland is a somewhat factual almost psychological attempt at looking at the origins of JM Barrie's Peter Pan world. However all this is buried beneath the extraordinary imagination and magic of the Peter Pan world which the film portrays. In a similar style to Big Fish which brings the imagination into the fray so too does Finding Neverland although I feel in a more relevant manner. Being set in Edwardian England, the distinction in Barrie's life between reality and the mind is blurred. For instance at one point Barrie (Johnny Depp) looks at the Peter (the real life one) jumping up and down and then you see him fly out of the window just as in the book. The film also concentrates on the theatrical vision of Peter Pan rather than the book or Hollywood film adaptations. This manages to bring the era closer... Read review

...So how come I hadn't heard about this Wu-Tang concert, when clearly, after buying the DVD of it in my local music store for a bargain price of £7.99, it was the ultimate in Wu experience. History ------------ For those that aren't familiar with the Wu-Tang Clan, they are for many, (including myself) the ultimate in Hip Hop. From Staten Island where the clan grew up together, originates this ultra pure form of Hip Hop. Members of the Wu are also known for solo careers and often appear on other well known artists tracks. Method man, the late, Old Dirty Bastard, Rza, Gza, Inspecta Deck, U-God, Raeqwan, The Chef and Ghostface Killa are the main members of the ferocious clan each with their own distinct style but still unmistakeably Wu! DVD in General ------------------------- So this DVD is a complete must have for all Wu/Hip Hop fans... Read review

Advantages: Good Martial Arts Cheese
Disadvantages: Bad Quality, the subtitles

...I picked up the Shaolin & Wu Tang DVD from HMV a good while ago because it was £3 and I was looking for some unknown Martial Arts movies to watch. As you would image I wasn't really expecting anything from this movie, and like the saying goes, I got what I paid for. The movie starts of with some sort of display, nothing to do with the movie at all, except to perhaps introduce the viewer to some of the moves used in both the Shaolin and Wu Tang styles. The quality of the DVD is to be honest, rubbish - its like you are watching a 10 year old VHS in a 20 year old VHS player, very very grainy and in places very hard to watch. The sound isn't much better, the music would be decent enough (if a little cheesy) if it wasn't for the constant crackling throughout. **I think I should say as a side note now, the bad quality may have infact been...
