This show can now be considered a memorable comedy classic from the BBC in my humble opinion. With series seven as the latest to air and a rumoured series eight, it is questionable though if they are trying to carry it's success too far; however, not to say that series seven was not enjoyable as it definitely was, it just seemed appropriately like the end.
Series 1-6 are easy to watch, enjoyable and hilarious. With the show finding its feet around series 2 and standing strong from then onwards, including a one-off musical episode that is definitely one to remember and several twists that, while probably over-the-top, come across as great storytelling with the comedic spark they hold.
The core cast are made up of five characters. Likeable chav Janet, her scrawny biscuit-fiend of a boyfriend Jonny, her strong-minded best friend Donna, his sheep-fearing, porn-addict, best friend Gaz and to round out the group is squeaky, blunt, Louise.
The group live their life in Runcorn, spending half of their time in the pub and the other dealing with any interference one of the others may be causing in their life that week. Whether its infidelity, questionable paternities, break-ups, make-ups or just standing on a treasured music box - "oh my shit". And to top if off there's an incredibly catchy theme tune.
This show will definitely have you laughing and I recommend it to all, except those who frown upon crudeness and/or lack a sense of humour.
