The fantastically funny situation comedy that is Two Pints of Lager and a Packet of Crisps which is based on two couples and their crazy friend in Runcorn. They experience everything life can throw at them from relationships, babies, unfaithfulness, job problems and much much more.
The cast includes Will Mellor, Ralf Little, Natalie Casey, Sheridan Smith and Kathryn Drysdale.
Will Mellor has been seen before in Hollyoaks as has Natalie Casey. Ralph Little is better known playing Anthony in the Royale Family, alongside Caroline Aherne and Ricky Tomlinson. Sheridan Smith also made an appearance in the second series of the Royale Family. I personally am not aware of any of Kathryn Drysdales previous work.
Will Mellor plays Gaz, a “randy” (for want of a better word) mechanic. He is going out with Donna (played by Natalie Casey). Donna works at the local bucket factory. Sheridan Smith plays Janet who is now married to Jonny (played by Ralf Little). Jonny is an unemployed biscuit lover!! Kathryn Drysdale is a squeaky friend to the four of them. She’s a little mad and is desperate to find love, but only is the
stars say so!!
To date they have recorded six series’ and there is word on the street of a seventh series. For lovers of the comedy like me, this can’t come soon enough.
I bought this box set as I was sure I couldn’t have seen EVERY episode and wanted to make sure I had watched them all. I was right, although the re-runs are on television (usually on BBC3 late at night) regulary, I had not seen them all.
Some of the most memorable episodes from series one include:
Fags, Shags and Kebabs – Janet flashes at Jonny in a club and the rest, as they say, is history. Gaz has strained a testicle playing football.
Ugly Babies – Jonny is fed up with his boring life until Janet drops the bombshell that she is pregnant. This episode lets us into a little bedroom secret about Gaz. He often shouts “Tina Arena, you will be mine” whilst having sex!!
Series two includes episodes such as:
Dirty Girls – Jonny finds out that Janet has kept an old love letter from her ex, Andy. Flo, Donna’s mum, asks her to move out. Janet shows Jonny, James from the chemist, on the pretence that he is Andy!!
Crusty Curtains – Donna and Gaz make a list of demands from each other. Donna’s list is short and reasonable however, Gaz’s list is pages and pages long. Donna ends up at Janets house, whereas Janet ends up at Gaz’s flat because Jonny is making too much of her kiss with Andy. Louise gets very confused.
Series Three includes:
Hospikal – Munch (Gaz’s half brother) finds Gaz unconscious at the garage along side a bottle of tablets and empty beer cans. Munch assumes he has tried to commit suicide.
Dump – Louise’s current boyfriend David is allowed to have sex with her after being made to wait for a month. Janet and Jonny are finding it hard to argue and think its not natural.
Series Four includes:
Piggy Goes Oink – Lousie has a library book called “Piggy Goes Out”. Its just a childs book but Donna and Janet find it deeply moving. Janet and Jonny have split up and Jonny is now with Kate.
Cuggles – Still desperately missing Jonny, Janet and Gaz have a cuggle! It quickly turns into much more meaning Gaz has been unfaithful to Donna. Janet walks in just after the event but is oblivious to the fact that they have just done it.
Series Five includes:
Nobbly Bobbly – After the death of Flo, Donna finds out that her mum has left her the house. Louise decided she must tell Jonny about Janet and Gaz.
Ba ba ba ba ba – Janet had had her baby but who’s the daddy?!? Jonny feels he’s not getting any attention so decides to act like a baby. He takes this quite literally and dresses in an oversize nappy!
Series Six includes:
Drunk – Gaz wants a baby with Donna. Donna agrees to come off the pill but after a night of passion, immediately takes the morning after pill. Gaz is not happy and decides to father children by donating at the local sperm bank.
When Janet Killed Jonny – The local pub the Archer is about to be demolished and for old times sake the five decide to break in for one last night at the pub. A local newspaper has printed that the Archer is cursed and when they enter the pub strange things start happening.
All in all this sit com is the one that makes me laugh the most. I haven’t watched such a funny comedy in ages. I would definitely recommend this programme to any young adult. This is, in my opinion, who the programme is aimed at. A massive 10 out of 10 from me.
My recommendation: Buy all six series’

This programme is so funny – the actors work well together and it always has me in stitches. I must try and get this box set as I also have missed quite a few of the episodes due to them being on so late x

I love this show! Has a new series come out yet? I'm a bit lost as I seem to catch it on BBC3, but sometimes I come across episodes I've seen already!
