I came across Twin Peaks when my sister bought me the box set for Christmas "I'm not sure you'll like it" she said, "I got it for purely selfish reasons!" - well turns out I did.. not the sort of thing i would normally buy, since in many ways it's different to any TV show out there.

Twin Peaks is one of those masterpieces which is left unrecognised by the majority - even when it was out in the 90s, people stopped watching it and so they had to stop after the second series! how much does that suck? Bloody TV companies....

Anyway - the series starts off with a body being washed up on the shore - wrapped in plastic. This is the body of Laura Palmer, Homecoming Queen, and it is the job of FBI Agent Cooper and the local police force to find out who it was - seems like a normal murder mystery!

But no, it is not. There are some strange going on here in Twin Peaks - Dreams have to be interpreted and stuff. Things are not what they seem. Who killed Laura Palmer? Well you'd be hard-pressed to guess - and totally shocked when you eventually find out!

There is one word to describe the show easily - and that is Weird! It really is quite odd. Director David Lynch always makes really odd things.

Visually it's great - this small town, Twin Peaks, with a gorgeous waterfall and the RR Diner, a sense of small-town community that probably appeals to big city people!

I think almost anyone would enjoy Twin Peaks. It is part-comedy, part-science-fiction (but not too much!), part murder-mystery, part soap, part romance, part a lot of things!

Also, the extras on the DVD are great, including cast interviews and introductions to each episode from the Log Lady (a woman with a very wise log) and stuff.

So yes - an excellent series that I would reccomend to anyone! Only downside is that it's only Series 1, although imported copies of series 2 are available on Ebay.

I think you could have done a lot more with that review given the topic. Do you know if they are releasing the second series on DVD?

I am a fan of David Lynch but I never got the chance to see this - I know it had mixed reviews though
