About Tumble Tots: ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~ Tumble Tots was started in 1979 by the coach for the British Olympic Gymnastics team of 1968, Bill Cosgrave.
It is for children from 6 months to 7 years, and there are clubs throughout the country, which have structured programmes created to develop co-ordination, agility and balance. The kids use bright soft play equipment to climb on or through, and the idea is to build their self-esteem and confidence. (More info can be found on their website, www.tumbletots.com).
The DVD: ~~~~~~~~ The DVD can be found at various shops, including online, and varies in price from £6.99 to around £10.
It starts with an introduction from Caron Keating, (who is sadly died after losing a 7 year fight with breast cancer), best known for being a Blue Peter presenter. She tells you how much she and her son Charlie have spent many hours singing the many songs on the video!
You can then decide whether to play all the songs in one go, or to pick a song.
In the "play all" choice it breaks straight into a group of kids and adults all wearing the obligatory Tumble Tots t-shirts, singing and doing the actions to Wiggly Woo. The words come up on the screen ready for you to sing along, and copy the actions - what better can you think of to spend your day?
Songs: ~~~~~ 1. Wiggly Woo 2. Top Of The Morning 3. Shake My Sillies 4. Wake Up Our Muscles 5. Little Rabbit 6. Three Little Monkeys 7. If You're Happy & You Know It 8. Bean Bag Rock 9. Dingle Dangle Scarecrow 10. Clap Tap Bend 11. Tom Tom 12. Bean Bag Shake 13. Stand Up Sit Down 14. Music Music 15. Little Green Frogs 16. Grand Old Duke Of York 17. Elephants Have Wrinkles 18. Mexican Bean Bag Dance 19. Wheels On The Bus 20. I'm A Little Aeroplane/Rocket 21. Three Little Speckled Frogs 22. Teddy Bear
Is it any good? ~~~~~~~~~~~ Well, I have to say, from word go, my 18 month old little girl Eve, was hooked. She loves singing and dancing (although, at the moment her singing mainly consists of "wah, wah, wah" sounds in differing tones!), and as soon as you put this dvd on she lights up.
One of the best things about the dvd is that you are bound to know at least a couple of the songs on it, and the words come up on the screen in true karaoke fashion! If your child is Eve's age, you can impress her by pretending you already knew all the words, until she is able to read! Another thing is, they probably teach a lot of the same songs at nursery, toddler groups, and of course Tumble Tots classes, so you don't have to be completely ignorant when your little one comes home having learnt new songs.
I highly recommend this for kids of all ages, who love music - it is a great way to introduce them to exercise, without realizing they are doing it. It also helps them with co-ordination, reading, and just plain fun!
Thanks for reading!
