This early (1958) science fiction film, is an entertaining little number. It is certainly not the best sci-fi movie I have seen but it does have something about it. The special effects are not great, it is Black & White and the story isn't brilliant either, having said that there is a surprising performance by Warren Mitchell (Alf Garnett to some of you) who plays a straight laced Professor. The acting in this film is not bad either, and once you take in to account that the budget for these films was not as good as they are today then the film isn't that bad compared to the standards of the day.
Directed by Quentin Lawrence (The Invisible Man Series).

The Story....

High in the Alps is a creature from Outer Space (well it has to be really) who decapitates it's victims whilst shrouded by a mysterious radioactive fog.
In a research centre on top of a Mountain is Professor Crevett, and his team. They notice this mysterious fog and immediately set about trying to learn something about it. Where did it come from? Why isn’t it there all the time?

Meanwhile in the village a young woman with psychic powers (Janet Munro), gets off a train for no apparent reason that she can think off after having a powerful psychic experience, together with Alan Brooks (Forrest Tucker), a United Nations Science investigator, who is summonsed due to the discovery of a climber who has been decapitated. Both find themselves working together and eventually they all end up at the research centre fighting for their lives and the human race....

I won’t spoil the film by telling you about the creature (clue is in the American name for this film), or about what happens in the end (it’s the only thing going for this film).

Conclusion

Worth watching for laugh, but I wouldn't recommend you buy it unless your a devout Science Fiction collector. Incidentally, it was released under the name The Crawling Eye in America.
