Advantages: Great retelling of a classic story Disadvantages: Might be a bit scary in places for the very little ones
Treasure Planet, pretty much Treasure Island with a futuristic twist, Jim Hawkins off hunting for treasure. A tale of a young man going from a humble background into a much wider world (or Universe in this case) than he is used to and how he survives on his travels. It's an idea thats inspired movies such as Goonies and this is quite a nicely different retelling of the tale. Anything that involves pirates, mutinies and treasure hunting has got to be good.
Visually for sets and location backgrounds it looks excellent and is generally a wonderful adaptation of Robert Louis Stephenson's Treasure Island. I've seen a lot of different versions including The Muppet one but this is by far the best of them all. The animation and characters are excellent, the voice cast aren't all that bad but they aren't easily recognisable voices as I ...
Advantages: Multiple viewing advised to fully appreciate the movie Disadvantages: Quite a short tale
found an older wiser head certainly makes all the difference, and Made InHeaven became in my eyes a lost classic. And lost it certainly is, despite claims by Amazon, Made InHeaven has never been released on DVD. And only shortly seen on VHS in this country 20 years ago. Made InHeaven instead sits in unusual graveyard slots on TV, I have caught it as late as 4 am and as early as 6 am. And while I'm here its important to point out that the movie is currently screening on Sky Cinema having repurchased it for the first time in 19 years.
On to the movie, it's a very artsty movie, before arriving inHeaven Mike's life is filmed in Sepia (a brownish orange print but not quite black and white), upon arrival inHeaven things become far brighter and far more colourful. The return to Earth however features a darker palette of colours, while ...
Advantages: Slightly different to usual Disney films Disadvantages: Few songs, boring in places
I went to see this movie a few weeks ago, at a special preview, and I thought I'd better write an opinion before parents rush to take their children during half -term.
From the title, you may guess that this film is based on Treasure Island, but it the usual Disney way, it is a little different from the original (mainly it is set in the future). To explain, let me tell you about the film:

He is extremely good at school, and is always building futuristic projects of some description or another. This all changes as he gets older and his father leaves home. Jim's mother is left to raise him alone, whilst she runs her Tavern, which also doubles as a sort of "Space Port". Teenage Jim is a bit ...
