Advantages: great oldskool cartoon for fans, young or old. Also includes an episode of Transformers Takara "The Four Soldiers from the Sky" Disadvantages: none
...I always enjoyed Transformers as a kid, and seeing this new re-release on the shop shelf brought back some good memories. The story is about a civil war which has gone on for millions of years between two factions of a robotic race - the heroic Autobots and the evil Decepticons. This special collectors edition is just a remastered edition in a new black box - which makes it the only main difference to the original video release. However, the video includes an episode of "TransformersTakara". "The Four Soldiers from the Sky" is an episode from the Japanese version of Transformers, so it's dubbed into English (which can make for a bit of a shoddy translation sometimes - but still understandable).

Advantages: Guaranteed to love for ever! Disadvantages: Perhaps a little old looking for the modern child.
...Optimus Prime rocks. The whole programme does. As a child i worshipped the programme, and this film is fantastic. Following the depletion of crucial Energon required for the Bots to live, the Transformers set off for Earth hoping to re-stock Energon Cubes and take them back home to Cybertron. However the Transformers are divided into two factions. The aerial, evil Deceptocons, and the ground-based, morally sound Autobots. Evil leader Megatron fighting the great Optimus Prime. The ships, bound for Earth , battle in space, and crash into the base of a Volcano and are de-activated by the shock of the blast. When the Volcano erupts, they come back to life, and the fight for Energon Cubes begins. The Autobots want to limit the damage done by the Deceptacons, while the latter care little for the damage they do. With such a great plot, it...
