I kept having to go over the loose storyline in my head until the plot made sense, and as soon as I thought i knew what was going on, the story went on to focus on some apparent addicts on a detox road trip. But these were not proper zombies - I like my zombies either slow and lurching, with guts hanging out (the more traditional zombie), or fast, infected, crazed zombies (28 days latter style). Either way, I expect them to have a hunger for brains. The 'Zombies' in this movie were rubbish. They could talk just like they could before (I mean, what kind ... more
I watched this film last night - My partner bought it me for £5 from HMV as he knows how much I love zombies, and we were very much looking foward to a full on hillbilly gore fest. We watched .... and watched .....and watched right through until the end, but there was not a proper Zombie in sight. Once it became clear that nothing was really going to happen, we lost interest but still felt compelled to watch until the end. Which was a waste of time. The start looked fairly promising - A young Hillbilly Woman looking for revenge on her Trailer Park neighbours for killing her boyfriendafter meeting a weird guy on a bike. I kept having to go over the loose storyline in my head until the plot made sense, and as soon as I thought i knew what was going on, the story went on to focus on some apparent addicts on a detox road trip. It looked promising when they turned up at the trailer park, and the killer lady greets them and takes them in. When it becomes apparent that they are going to meet some of the neighbours (rather predictable), we were even more excited - after a slow start, we wanted gore! And Zombies! But these were not proper zombies - I like my zombies either slow and lurching, with guts hanging out (the more traditional zombie), or fast, infected, crazed zombies (28 days latter style). Either way, I expect them to have a hunger for brains. The 'Zombies' in this movie were rubbish. They could talk just like they could before (I mean, what kind of zombie can talk properly, never mind hold up a conversation!), didn't seem at all bothered about brains, and didn't even have many limbs missing/guts hanging out. There were no special effects (apart from some average make up - a bit of skin hanging off the face,a bit of fake blood etc)... generally a poor storyline, poor effects, poor zombies. Highly disappointing. The only slightly creepy part of the film is where the main character is telling the messed up story of her childhood, which doesn't make up for the lack of gore at all. She's apparently a zombie too, her face is falling off but she just sticks it back on and pretends to be normal, and seduces a sex addict. There's not much more I can say about the story, It was that weak. All I can say, is if you like Zombies, this film isn't for you, and even as a regular horror/thriller its pretty bad. The only redeeming feature was the Soundtrack ,which is all done by a singing hick with an electric guitar.
*EDIT* - This DVD was so unmemorable, I forgot it came with a short comic book, where nothing happens and the artwork is average...
