Director: John Landis.
Producers: George Folsey Jr, Aaron Russo, Irwin Russon and Sam Williams.
Writers: Timothy Harris and Herchel Weingrod
Stars: Dan Aykroyd, Eddie Murphy, Jamie Lee Curtis, Ralph Bellamy, Denholm Elliott and Don Ameche.

Released in 1983 this comedy, starring the excellent Eddie Murphy, relies on the greed of humanity to bring onto the big screen a somewhat hilarious movie.

**BRIEF PLOT**

When Mortimer Duke, (played by Don Ameche) and his brother Randolph, (played by Ralph Bellamy) decide to place a rather strange wager to quench their boredom they don't care about the consequences to the victims involved.
The wager comes to light when the brothers quarrel about how peoples backgrounds are what makes their futures.

With their loyal and long time employee Louis Winthorpe the 3rd, (played by Dan Aykroyd) being the perfect person to unknowingly participate in the wager, together with a street hustler Billy Ray Valentine, (played by Eddie Murphy).

The scene is set for the wager as the lives of the two people totally change, with the once innocent Louis suddenly having his life plunged into the drug crazed, alcohol fuelled world, his bank accounts frozen and his reputation shattered.
Whilst Billy Ray finds some comfort in the fact that he has know entered a life of complete luxury.

With the Duke brothers wager in full throw, things take a twist as Louis meet an unusual ally in the form of a prostitute called Ophelia, (played by Jamie Lee Curtis) and his ever loyal (ex) butler, Colman, (played by Denholm Elliot).

The movie then twists around as the Duke brothers realise that they may have bitten off more than they can chew….with Billy Ray, Louis and Ophelia unleash their own plan.

**IN CONCLUSION**
A well written movie with a great twist towards the end.
Eddie Murphy acts his usual brilliance as the 'poor man made it rich' type, the scene at the house party showing how he has respect for others although he had a really bad upbringing.

Dan Aykroyd is a comical, straight faced genius and when he unites with Murphy the laughter really projects.

The idea for the movie is probably not original but the way Aykroyd and Murphy act it really creates a fantastically funny movie with some cracking banter between the two.

Then when Jamie Lee Curtis gets involved in the fun you know your in for a real treat as this brilliant actress connects with Murphy and Aykroyd to perfection.

Would I recommend this movie…??
Yes I would.
It is a very funny movie, no violence and a treat for all ages, (but young kids wont understand the story involved).
