After months of people telling me to see both the Toy Story films, I finally went out and bought the DVD boxset and what a buy it was!.
I'm not sure how much it's selling for in the UK, but I got both movies for £19.99 (futureent.com) imported on Region 1 DVD. There are two sets you can buy - the one I got which gives you a few extra features, such as out takes. And the second which comes with a 3rd disk filled with extra's, which I believe is £35 altogether.
I'm indifferent as to which is the better film, as I enjoyed both immensely. The animation is superb, and the humour is excellent. If you're one of these people who think cartoons are just for kids, then you'd be very wrong. Think Simpsons & Futurama humour and you'll know that much of their humour isn't really understood by kids.
CHARACTERS:
Probably the greatest aspect of the 2 films are the characters, 'Woody' (voice by Tom Hanks), 'Buzz Lightyear' (Tim Allen), Slinky the Dog, the confidence-less tyrannosaurus called 'Rex', my favourite character 'Ham' the money-bank pig and 'Mr. Potato-Head'.
TOY STORY 1:
Toy Story 1 is based around Woody's owner getting a new toy for his birthday, Buzz Lightyear, and him becoming envious of Buzz. The story moves on to a crazy kid who lives next door who likes to destroy toys in different ways, ie. set fire to them, strap them to fire works!. Buzz and Woody end up becoming allies as they both try to escape from the neighbours house before they're next inline!!.
TOY STORY 2:
The second film starts with Woody's owner moving house and the uproar amongst the toys as to who they think is going to be left behind!!. It all begins when Woody tries a rescue mission to save a toy from the garage sale but ends up being stolen himself by a greedy toy collector - who needs him to complete a collection which he intends to sale for millions to a Japanese buyer. Buzz and the rest of the toys then set out to save Woody and then the story really kicks off. Great humour throughout the film, Absolutely superb!!.
An unmissable set of films, go out and see them now!!.
How helpful would this review be to a person making a buying decision? Rating guidelines
With 3 kids under 8, I've seen both these film at least 100 times (anyone with kids will
know). I'd still watch them again. Disney films are brilliant! (I've been at home too long)
