Toy Story 2 returns and even takes up a notch, with such life-like renderings that within minutes the play-time world of Andy's bedroom, becomes your own reality for the length of the picture.

Toy Story 2 is both a genuinely emotional parable about outgrowing childhood and a rescue mission that kicks into gear after Woody (a great voice comeback from Tom Hanks) is stolen by a greedy toy collector while trying to save another of Andy's toys from a garage sale. Naturally, the space hero Buzz Lightyear (scored by Tim Allen) organizes a search and rescue to retrieve his good buddy and soon Mr.Potato Head (Don Rickles), Slinky Dog (Jim Varney), Rex (Wallace Shawn) the insecure toy tyrannosaurus--probably my best toy!, and Hamm (John Ratzenberger), set out across town in search of their leader.

Part of the delight of this sequel is its bottomless pit of delightful wit. Along the way to rescue Woody, the gang went through really wild adventures. One of the best scenes is when they cross a major horoughfare hiding inside traffic cones (and causing several accidents)--Ha!Ha!Ha!--Great laugh!). They also recruit help inside a giant toy store, where they are momentarily distracted by a gaggle of partying Barbies and have a run-in with Buzz's nemesis, the nefarious galactic Emperor Zurg (voiced by Andrew Stanton).

The story is sharp and quick, jam-packed with great humor and hilarious homages to old westerns. As the gang forges ahead on their crusade, Woody is busy discovering he's a major collectors' item. At the collector's apartment, he meets his TV companions, Bullseye, his trusty, cuddly steed; Stinky Pete (voiced superbly by Kelsey Grammar) and Jessie (Joan Cusack), a cowgirl doll who tries to talk Woody into staying. Through an honestly heartbreaking flashback, Jessie warns Woody that he will someday be discarded, just as she was when her owner grew up, and she almost convinces him that the cushy, pampered life of a museum piece is better than being part of a child's life.

Toy Story 2 may just be the most astute, funniest, most artful, most supremely satisfying animated sequel ever. One thing is for sure -- it's certainly the most fun.

If you love Toy Story, then Toy Story 2 would not dissappoint you at all. The DVD version is a great buy, though it would be great if it packs more extra features. The best thing (if you're a fan of Toy Story), is to buy the Triple DVD version of Toy Story, Toy Story 2 and one extra disc containing a whole lot of extras ranging from storyboards and history of Toy Story. It is priced at £44.99 at retail outlets, but you can get them for £39.99(about £5 of savings!) at www.play247.com!(wrote about this online dvd portal before--you can find it here at ciao!)

This DVD includes Special Features such as 'Monsters Inc.' A Sneak Preview--can't wait for it to be out!, Luxor Junior - Animated Short Film From Pixar(the first animation from Pixar), Character Featurette, Exclusive 'Woody's Round-up' Music Video, Coolest Toy Feature, Complete Set Of Hilarious Out-takes--definitely one to watch!, Interactive Menus and the normal Scene Access.

All in all, personally; Toy Story 2 on DVD is just gripping! :)

Toy Story 2 is certainly a good film, but I still feel that the first ToyStory has the edge.

After reading your opinion, I think I still have a lot to learn before tackling another film review :)
