Siula Grande in the Peruvian Andes. The author and his climbing partner Simon Yates achieved the summit in June 1985 before disaster struck. A few days later Yates staggered into base camp exhausted and frostbitten to tell their non-climbing companion that Joe was dead. For three days Simon Yates believing that he had caused his friend's death suffered torment and guilt. However a cry in the night led them to Joe badly injured and delirious crawling through the snow. Far from causing his friend's death Simon had paradoxically saved his life when he cut the rope. What happened and how they dealt with the resulting psychological trauma is the subject of this book.

Advantages: Good film with excellent special effects Disadvantages: none
good and evil, but with cutting edge special effects and action scenes galore this is a great film to watch.
The blu-ray version i watched was a 2 disc set with the second disc full of extras. There was a section on the history of transformers, and interviews with executive producers Steven Spielberg and Brian Goldner, writers Alex Kurtzman and Robert Orci, and director Michael Bay. There were also features on the animation used and the way they worked out where to do scenes. You also get a look at the military equipment seen and used in the film.
This additional information is something you do not want to skip over, because it gives you a much deeper understanding of how much planning and work went into the final production. If you are into cutting edge special effects and head banging action then beg, borrow, rent, or if that fails buy ...
Advantages: Easy to watch withs continous interviews throught Disadvantages: No real disadvantages.
I got Touching the Void as a present form a climber friend who thought I would like it. When I watched the dvd for the first time I did not know exactly what it was about. However once I started to watch I was gripped to the TV. This documentary is about an experiance that two climbers; Joe Simpson and Simon Yates had in Peru in 1985. Tragedy struck the pair while on descent form a mountain in a storm, Joe fell and broke his leg badly. When Simon reached him he realised that they had a serious problem on their hands and Simon would have to do most of the work. Simon began lowering Joe rope lenght at a time. Then without Simon being aware, Joe was being lowered over a steep cliff. Simon having felt the rope tighten thought Joe had fell. After some time Simon had to cut the rope as to not fall to the same fate as Joe. However Joe ...

***Introduction***
Bolt is the latest movie made by Disney and so I decided to recently purchase this movie and see what all the fuss was about. This version was only a couple of quid more than the normal DVD and I purchased mine from TheHut (which I have reviewed very recently) and this includes the Blu-ray disc with special features, the film on DVD as well which is worth over £10 and a Rhino soft toy! (the excellent and very funny hamster in the movie) So I obviously decided to buy the Blu-ray!
***Plot***

To make everything appear more realistic Bolt must not know that this is just a show and not real and so he believes everything around him is real. When Penny is captured by the evil green eyed man he escapes over night to try ...

DVD Description
Bringing to life Joe Simpson's book of the same name, TOUCHING THE VOID details the near-death experience he endured during a 1985 attempt to climb the only mountain in the Peruvian Andes that had not been scaled--the 21,000-foot Siula Grande. With his partner Simon Yates, Simpson successfully reached the peak after a three-day climb. During the descent, however, he fell and shattered several bones in his right leg. Yates attempted to lower Simpson down the mountain 300 feet at a time, but the process was slow and painful for both men. With no food or water, they would both surely die--which left Yates with a painful choice to make--cutting Simpson loose, thus ensuring at least his own survival. This was only the beginning of Simpson's mind-boggling odyssey. Director Kevin McDonald (ONE DAY IN SEPTEMBER) tells this compelling story by combining talking-head interviews with Simpson and Yates and stunningly photographed narrative footage--in which Simpson and Yates' ordeal is actually re-enacted on Siula Grande. McDonald's re-enactment footage is both engrossing and eye-popping and it could easily stand alone as its own one-of-a-kind adventure film. The interviews, however, add depth that make this a unique, thrilling, and emotional piece of cinema.
