Advantages: Great workout, fabulous for abs Disadvantages: Need some knowledge of Pilates and the warm up is poor
...I have started to do Pilates in January 2005 and since then, I have never stopped. I have been going to classes every Monday and Thursday and never missed one. Unfortunately, as the classes are in my daughter's school, it doesn't run during holidays. So I decided to look for PilatesDVD. I first bought a Video but the quality was so bad I bought a DVD from a different collection.
So how does it look like?
The DVD comes in a purple case clearly writing MTV PILATES on the front...you can't miss it! It also has a picture of the Pilates instructor, Kristin McGee on the front.
It's a pretty basic cover but is clearly showing was it is for!
What does the cover says….
Work it inside and out with MTV Pilates. Learn the moves that strengthen your body and power up your mind. Hosted by renowned Yoga and Pilates instructor Kristin Mc...

Easy exercise - no sweat! Review ofPilates - System 21 - The Ultimate Mind And Body Workout DVDby

Advantages: Relaxing, gentle form of exercise for your body and mind Disadvantages: Slightly annoying backgound music

I have bought a few exercise dvds. I find that the actual workouts last for approximately 60 mins (which for me is far too long to fit in the day - not forgetting to add an extra 30 mins recovery time!) and after a few months I just give up.
Pilates - System 21 - The Ultimate Mind and Body Workout is a DVD that I am sticking with. The actual routine takes approximately 30mins. After finishing the routine I feel refreshed and relaxed ( this is not a typical after exercise feeling for me!). I definately feel more supple and my posture has improved since doing the dvd...

Advantages: Good length workout with both standing and mat exercises Disadvantages: Lacking some explanation of moves
...I brought this DVD as I'd previously done beginners yoga and really enjoyed that so I thought I'd give pilates a go.I decided to buy 'Pilates Weight Loss Workout for Dummies' as it was aimed at beginners, and it was only £4.97 from amazon. Pilates is great for toning, as it involves strengthening and strecthing muscles particularly in your midsection i.e stomach, hips and bum. This workout is also designed to increase your heatrate so that you burn more calories than with a tradtional pilates workout.
The DVD has two sets of exercises: a 20 minute standing routine and a 15 minute mat routine, which makes it a good length for doing in one go. Although it is aimed at beginners I did think that it moved too quickly in parts. Whilst most of the exercises were explained verbally by the instructor (Tracy Thompson) there were some moves...
