Advantages: An aesthetically pleasing collection Disadvantages: Some rather poor inclusions
A selection of classic Hammer films from the very good to...not so good. An aesthetically pleasing set for fans of the studio, or those wanting at least half of the titles. Features star favourites Peter Cushing, Raquel Welch, Ursula Andress and Christopher Lee (about whom there is an interesting documentary with 'Scars of Dracula').
The extra features vary greatly, the biggest ommission, in my opinion, is the total absence of subtitles for the hearing impaired.
For those who are interested all films are anamorphic, some for the first time, and completely uncut.
My personal favourite was the inclusion of the 1965 film 'The Nanny' which stars a very chilling Bette Davis in a well scripted, and often overlooked role.
Probably a tad overpriced for most, but new DVD versions of individual films are also available, so take ...

ALIEN is the chilling science fiction story of seven astronauts who become the victims of a galactic horror when they stumble upon an alien life form never seen before. In ALIENS, Ripley is asked to go back to the planet where the aliens were first found, when communications with the colonists are lost. In ALIEN 3, Ripley finds herself a survivor of another alien attack. This time she finds herself on Fiorina 161, a penal colony. It is not long before Ripley realises that her doomed escape pod was contaminated with the alien. Now she is imprisoned on a planet where weapons are unavailable. ALIEN RESURRECTION is set two hundred years after Ripley. A group of scientists clone her and the parasitic alien. Anxious to test out their new weapon the scientists abduct a crew. Several facehugger specimens escape, planting eggs down the throats of a hunter and his son. The dead Predator's home planet receives a transmission of the alien outbreak, and a fellow denizen of his world is dispatched to clean up the multiplying aliens.
