Top Gun is set amid the world of fighter pilots, who having been rated amongst the elite are sent to a school to further hone their skills. This school is Top Gun.
Starring Tom Cruise as “Maverick” the film rolls effortlessly along a tale set around Maverick and his adventures in an F-14. One for the guys? It does have fantastic special effects, but contrary to popular opinion there are more emotive moments during the film too.
Along with Cruise there are whole cast of excellent actors who produce good performances. Kelly McGillis, Anthony Edwards, Val Kilmer (who does have a very annoying accent in this film for some reason) and Tom Skerritt feature prominently, and there are decent cameos from Tim Robbins and Meg Ryan (in one of her earliest incarnations of a dizzy blonde). There is also a pretty decent soundtrack (Cruise’s singing excepted).
The film covers a vast range of emotions and topics. Selfishness, ambition, grief and love are shown, and mixed in nicely with some moments of pleasant humour.
However it is the effects which make this film, but thankfully it also has a plot which does not embarrass them. Still a classic which I watch on a regular basis.

Brief review, but you told us what the film was about. If I hadn't seen it (about 20 times) Your info would have given me enough to make a descision as to whether I wanted to.
Thanks
