...*My Views on Tom Films*
I am a massive Tom Cruise fan, which might make you think this review is going to be biased but please don't because I am honest when commenting on films. For example I would never say 'Eyes Wide Shut' or 'Vanilla Sky' were good films because I found them both very boring.
*The Story*
Top Gun is about a young navy pilot who is one of the best fighter pilots around but his career is being held back by his inability to follow orders, for going it alone instead of as a team and a reputation for pulling stunts.
He finally gets a shot to go to the naval fighter acadamy - 'Top Gun' and it is here that he finally learns to work as a team, the meaning of friendship and love.
It has some amazing aerial battles with F14 fighter jets, that manage to give me goosebumps everytime.
The soundtrack is really good too...

...This film is realistic with the storyline, two friends in the airforce, both fly alongside eachother, then one of them dies and the other finds it hard to carry on. But against all odds he does, and he carries on to be one of the best air fighters in his class.
Not only that he also finds love with his lecturer, who tries not to make it known, it shows love can be found anywhere, and age doesnt matter.
The two main characters to start off are like a duet, they do everything together, they are alot like two really close brothers, that are always there for eachother, they both have fun in the same way it is like they are stereotyping eachother, they both do the same things but they have their own way of doing them.
I really enjoyed watching this film, so much so i had to watch it another two or three times, the story to it the soundtrack...

...I bought this for my brother for his birthday, for one reason.... I wanted to see it. And I have to say I loved it.
Top Gun opened in America on May 16th 1986. It became the highest grossing film of the year taking $176m in the US and $344m worldwide. Coinsidently sales of aviator sunglasses rose by 40% and the number of people signing up for recruitment in the Navy also increased.
So what is it about the film that makes so many people love it or want to become a pilot?
The storyline is fairly simple....as I once heard an American comedian say....
Tom Cruise is a fighter pilot, in fact he's a very good fighter pilot. Meets a beautiful girl. Has a crisis in confidence.....beautiful girl helps him to restore his confidence and then Tom Cruise is once again a brilliant fighter pilot. (it was funny at the time!)
