from 1978, which saw Tommy Cooper at the height of his fame. Assisted by Andrew Sachs and diminutive comedian Sheila Bernette (not to mention flunkeys Ken Wilson and Eddie Davies) it can be easily seen why Eric Sykes believes that Tommy Cooper is the funniest man in the world. After all, who else could reduce an audience to fits of laughter whilst trying to catch a bullet between his teeth, demonstrate the Indian Basket Illusion or emulate the Great Houdini with a death-defying escape from an air-tight steel trunk!

Introduction: ************** Tommy Cooper and his guests star in this 1978 six-part series.
Synopsis: ********** Include on this single DVD, you will find two programmes containing some of his most hilarious sketches to enjoy again and again and again.
The Magic Touch ************** This is a compilation from rare and classic footage. Tommy performs in some riotous and zany sketches in his own barmy style. Various guests such as Eric Sykes, Henry Cooper, and Ronnie Barker…. encounter a: Troubadour Tommy, Nautical Cooper, Courting Cooper, Accountant Cooper. This episode concludes with the Amazing Shirt Trick.
Tribute to a Comic Genius ********************** Included in this episode are tributes from some of Tommy's friends, such as Benny Hill, Jim Davidson, Ronnie Barker, Eammon Andrews, Mike Yarwood, Eric Sykes, Max Bygraves and many more…….. Intermingled with the tributes are his bizarre conjuring tricks, the comic antics and Tommy's unique brand of humour. 'Bottle, Glass, Glass, Bottle' where Tommy end up conjuring a table full of wine bottles and wine glasses.
His jokes where awful, so was his dress sense and his tricks sometimes went awry. But none of it mattered; he himself was just one of those funny human beings who does not even need to open his mouth to make people smile.
A man who had the real 'X' factor.
A legend in his own lifetime, a man who quite literally 'Died' on stage. But not that way, no never, he sadly died doing what he loved.
Interesting facts: ****************** There is a 9 foot bronzed statue of Tommy Cooper in his home town of Caerphilly. Although Tommy often got magic tricks 'wrong', (on purpose), he was in fact an accomplished magician and member of the mysterious Magic Circle. He wore a red fez which became his trade mark. He wore it because during a NAFFI concert in Cairo during World War 2 he misplaced his pith helmet, quick as a flash he grabbed a waiters hat and the rest is history.
