I caught this film by letting a tape run once on sky rather than setting the timer. I recognised a few of the names and as a fan of slightly gross humour I watched. I have to admit that I was laughing alot at this forerunner to the American Pie series, it is a classic teen sex comedy of the 'Porky's' genre but does work well and is genuinly funny.
The film starts with womanising Michael (Jerry O'Connell of 'Sliders' fame) in vegas, gambling big in order to impress a girl. Sadly this doesn't work out as planned and he ends up heavily in debt to the mob with no visible way out of it.
Then he remembers a bet he and his friends had, everyone put in $ and the last man to get married won the massive pot of money. Michael realises there's only 2 of them left in the running for this money, himself and his even more chauvenistic friend Kyle (Jake Busey). Michael then embarks on a one-man mission to find the only woman Kyle ever cared for, Natalie (Shannon Elizabeth). However true love never runs true and Michael finds himself falling in love with Natalie himself and so is torn between the money and the girl.
From this simple premise the story follows Michael as he tries to find out exactly what makes Kyle tick and thus make Natalie into him ideal woman. Films like this wouldn't be the same without the gross sex jokes and this film has plenty, from testicular cancer, to Michael's best friend Steve (Horatio Sanz) who is convinced his gorgeous wife Tricia (Jaime Pressley) is having a lesbien affair with their maid and a librarian who is a little more feisty than she seems.
Ultimately the story is a little predictable and only the most disgusting of the jokes register surprise from the audience, although the jokes are very funny (especially the 'three little words....' joke). I was also impressed with the cast as they might be 'B' list actors but there are recognisable faces for such an obscure film.
The film is very crude and aims at the most bse levels of comedy which won't appeal to everyone, however as long as you know this at the start then that's ok. I would recommend this film to anyone who is still juvenille enough to enjoy this level of humour and is not offended easily. It is good brainless TV and should bring a least a chuckle from even the most harded cynic
P.S. keep watching at the end for some funny out-takes
