Well I have to say months later, after reading an opinion on ciao I really felt like seeing this movie as it seemed like my kind of thing.
... ...Anyway my brother bought me a copy of it and I was definitely looking forward to seeing it.
I had absolutely no idea Jerry O’Connell is in this movie. I honestly expected some old fat guy to be the lead but I couldn’t have been more wrong. I used to adore Jerry and hadn’t seen him in anything since he was in the TV show Sliders. If you don’t know who I am on about he was the little fat kid in stand by me.

I absolutely adore comedies and everyone I know, knows it! Anyway my brother bought me a copy of it and I was definitely looking forward to seeing it.

When I put this movie on I really expected it to have a very slow beginning and that it would take a while for it to get into the story but that is one thing I appreciated about this movie, it was funny and entertaining from start to finish.
THE PLOT~~
The movie basically starts out with loads of guys getting ready for a wedding. Michael Delaney is running up and down in a panic about the whole wedding until his friend reminds him its his wedding not Michaels. Michael thinks there are millions of women out there, so what’s the point of getting married when you can have sex with so many different women.
Most of the friends claim they will definitely not get married and will remain single for the rest of their lives. They all make a bet. They will each put an equal amount of money into a bank account and whoever is the last man who is single gets the lot. Michael’s closest friend Steve claims he will never ever get married and seven years later Steve gets married to Tricia. The woman of his dreams.
Anyway Steve and Tricia’s wedding is in Las Vegas so Michael decides to go out in a casino where he spots a gorgeous red head but is informed by a bar tender that she only goes for the big spender types. So he decides to get her attention by gambling. He ends up blowing so much cash and isn’t even very good. The red head doesn’t seem to be giving him much luck either. Tricia spots him and calls Steve to try and stop him from blowing all his cash. Steve stops him just in time but the red head decides to chuck the dice anyway and he looses again, meaning he owes the casino £51,000. He doesn’t have that kind of money and since he’s only a cartoonist, his job wont pay his little mistake.
Michael is forced to meet the owner of the casino who threatens him and says if he doesn’t pay the lot he will kill him.
Michael knows the only chance he has to pay off the debt is by winning the bet. The only problem is the other friend Kyle who is single happens to be a playa. Big time. He doesn’t believe in marriage and just seems to care about what woman he will do it with next. Anyway Michael decides to go undercover and finds out at the first wedding Kyle slept with a girl called Natalie and really believed she could have been the one. Michael decides to find her and tries to set them up.
Whilst all of this is happening the casino owner sends repo men to get anything valuable that belongs to Michael to try and pay a bit of the debt. This becomes apart of Michaels every day life and he acts like they are his friends just coming to pick something up with can be quiet funny.
Anyway Michael asks Tricia where Natalie is and it turns out she is a hooker, so Michael decides to go out and brings up his proposition, suddenly she grabs him and loads of police cars turn up from nowhere. She’s no hooker. She’s an undercover cop. After questioning Michael and making him cry she finds out what he really wants but claims she has no recollection to anyone called Kyle.
The next day Natalie turns up at Michaels apartment and explains she lost her virginity to Kyle and the next day he dropped her off in the middle of nowhere with a roll of quarters. She is desperate to get him back for what he did to her so she agrees to try and marry him but she wants half of the money. Michael agrees.
That’s the basic story but I don’t want to give too much away.
Some of the funniest scenes are of Steve trying to find out if his wife Tricia is a lesbian as he sees a little clip of a security camera tape whilst in the casino owner’s office. After seeing that he desperately tries to find out if Tricia is a lesbian!
Also quite a funny scene is when Michael wants to have sex with the first women he sees and he sees quiet, shy and innocent librarian Jill. He goes home with her and meets her grandmother but all is not what it seems at Jill’s house.
The scene when Michael borrows a fur jacket from a striper and is running frantically to get somewhere(?) and he accidentally gets his foot stuck in a guitar whilst a band is performing, he tries everything to get it off and realises that was an animal rights performance and the audience think he’s a protester. I laughed so much at this scene!
THE CAST~~
Jerry O’Connell – Michael Delaney Shannon Elizabeth – Natalie Parker Jake Busey – Kyle Brenner Horatio Sanz – Steve Jaime Pressly – Tricia Bernie Casey – Officer Hurley Heather Stephens – Jill David Ogden Stiers – Dr. Crawford
THE PERFORMANCES~~
Jerry O’Connell is so funny and cute as Michael. I really enjoyed watching his character as he made me giggle. I haven’t seen him in many films lately but he was great in this. He was quite funny and sweet. Shannon Elizabeth was quite good in this movie. she wasn’t hilarious but was quite funny on odd occasions. She played the part well and was quite believable as a whore and as a cop. Jake Busey was really funny as the idiot friend who wont take women seriously. It’s quite funny when he tries to seduce women in his sick way, plus when he loses a testicle it’s hilarious! Horatio was quite funny as Steve. The guy who’s trying to work out if his wife Tricia is a lesbian. He always sees something in the shadows that looks like she’s getting up to something with another women but it’s always a misunderstanding. He played the part well. Jaime Pressly is very funny as Tricia. She marries Steve. Some people might ask why as she’s blonde and half the size he is, maybe because she prefers women to him. It’s quite funny when Steve asks his made what she actually does around the house, as everything is dirty and you can just tell from Tricia’s expression as to what they get up to. Heather Stephens plays the shy, reserved librarian. Michael hits on her as he just wants to have sex and forget about everything else but she turns out to be completely different to what he had actually expected. She is really funny, but doesn’t come in it for too long.
ADVANTAGES~~
What I really liked about this movie was that it is a great laugh and doesn’t start off slowly. Most films have a very slow beginning but this film just gets on with it. It has quite a good cast and little jokes that aren’t to be taken too seriously. The movie is sweet and funny at the same time and I think both genders would really enjoy this movie. The girls would enjoy it for Jerry O’Connell and the guys would enjoy it for Shannon Elizabeth. The soundtrack for the movie was also really good.
DISADVANTAGES~~
I really thought this movie was so funny and am having to think really hard to find some disadvantages. Maybe the fact that it can be really silly at some points in the film but I found the entire silly jokes routine really funny! The movie was a tad predictable but still funny.
SOUNDTRACK~~
The songs in the movie were excellent. Some of the songs were really good but I can’t really remember most of the songs that were in the movie besides X-zibit and offspring. There is no official soundtrack for this movie and it is such a shame as most tracks in the movie are really good.
OVERALL~~
I really enjoyed this film and was glad I got to see it. It wasn’t a huge hit because most people I recommend it to have never heard of it but it is definitely worth watching. I wouldn’t say it’s the new American pie as its quite different but it is still very funny. The story is quite different and the cast is very good. I really recommend this to anyone (except kids) because it’s really good. It isn’t too dirty like American pie but does have some mild nudity (mainly backsides!). Not a film to be taken seriously but definitely worth seeing. Very funny!!
Advantages: Very funny, good soundtrack Disadvantages: None
This is a type of American Pie/Roadtrip stupid humour type film. Great for watching with a group of friends.
The story starts at a wedding and a group of friends (blokes) agree to put money into an account every month and the last person left single gets the lot. A few years later one of them looses loads of money gambling and the only way he can pay it off is to win the money. He then sets up a girl with his remaining single friend, who happens ... ...falls in love with her etc. etc.
The story is told very well and is funny all the way through. One of the funniest parts is when the tw** bloke has one of his testicles removed in an operation and decides that he wants to take it home. The bloke who is setting him up goes all over the hospital and looses the testicle. It gets kicked around and eventually ends up in the canteen……
The acting is pretty good overall, can’t say that ...

Advantages: Good for it's type Disadvantages: Not to Everyone's taste
I caught this film by letting a tape run once on sky rather than setting the timer. I recognised a few of the names and as a fan of slightly gross humour I watched. I have to admit that I was laughing alot at this forerunner to the American Pie series, it is a classic teen sex comedy of the 'Porky's' genre but does work well and is genuinly funny.
The film starts with womanising Michael (Jerry O'Connell of 'Sliders' fame) in vegas, gambling big ... ...out as planned and he ends up heavily in debt to the mob with no visible way out of it.
Then he remembers a bet he and his friends had, everyone put in $ and the last man to get married won the massive pot of money. Michael realises there's only 2 of them left in the running for this money, himself and his even more chauvenistic friend Kyle (Jake Busey). Michael then embarks on a one-man mission to find the only woman Kyle ever cared for, Natalie ...

From the opening animated title sequence to the vulgarities at the film's climax, Gregory Poirer's directing debut is an obnoxiously funny comedy with a sharp romantic edge flowering beneath its T&A exterior. The plot surrounds a kitty (double entendre intended), created by a group of swinging pals determined to stave off marriage at all costs, with the cash headed towards whoever stays single the longest. Seven years later, only two of the friends remain single, and the pot is up to a half million in cash. When one of the two singles, Michael Delaney (Jerry O'Connell), runs afoul of the Las Vegas gambling mafia on account of a big-breasted babe, he needs that kitty cash desperately. Michael attempts to con his competitor, Kyle Brenner (Jake Busey), into marrying the wildly attractive policewoman Natalie (Shannon Elizabeth), who holds a personal vendetta against Kyle. But the best laid plans begin to run afoul when Natalie and Michael fall for each other instead. Filled with totally gross sex gags, pot shots at other films, and slapstick humor, TOMCATS is a humorous take on adult men who have not outgrown their adolescent mentalities about love, sex, and relationships.
