I am going to be very honest with you and tell you that Titanic is one of the most overrated movies of the last century. I remember everyone rushing to watch it in theatres when it first came out, and the amount of publicity it received. I remember the ceaseless chatting about this excruciatingly long movie, and the assurances of how good it must have been. I'm not sure about everyone else though, but when I watched it finally on cable it seemed a bit average to me.
I'm not the romance movie type of person, so I'm not sure if that has had an impact on my views of the movie. I can tell you though, that the script wasn't particularly well written, or superb like some people said it was, and the acting wasn't as superb as it could have been either.
People also said it would make me cry when I watched it. Well, unfortunately I still haven't shed a tear over this "masterpiece"/tragedy. Don't get me wrong though. It wasn't an awful movie, I just think it was very very overrated.
They also said the sex scene was steamy. It was in a different sense of the word, but I admit, I've seen steamier, and no, not in porn.
PLOT:
It is a movie based upon the actual sinking of the Titanic or "unsinkable ship" in 1912. It was about an old lady, Rose DeWitt Bukator, who 84 years later tells the story to her grandchildren of her life on the Titanic; where she, a rich young woman who is engaged falls in love with a poor young artist, Jack on the ship. They have an affair, and her fiance tries to tear them a part and at the end when the ship sinks they are left, cold and dying in each other's arms. Jack ends up dying in Rose's arms.

I didn't find Titanic such a superb film either. I think a lot of ppl loved i back then just coz they were taken by everybody else loving it. I don't think they pretended, but just felt into it blindly. I like your opinion.
