When you think of feature length cartoons most people would instantly think of Disney. But Titan AE is a cartoon brought to you through 20th Century Fox, and is a real treat of a cartoon to watch. It has a more adult feel to it than Disney cartoons, it has a more real feel to the film, rather than the Disney kind of fairy tail feel.

~~The Cast~~
This film has got a very good cast; it seemed to attract some of the best actor and actresses in Hollywood to lend their voices to the characters in the film. The actors and actresses that appear in this film are; Matt Damon, Bill Pullman, John Leguizamo, Nathan Lane, Janeane Garofalo and Drew Barrymore. All of the performances in the cartoon make it extremely good and shows the talent of some of the actors/actresses.

~~The Soundtrack~~
This film also seemed to attract a lot of big names to write songs for the film. There are songs in the film from bands such as Fun Lovin’ Criminals, Jamiroqaui, Powerman 5000, Texas and Lit. These songs fit into the film really well and I am sure that the soundtrack to the film is extremely good.

~~DVD Extras~~
The special features that you get extra with the DVD version of the film are; Directors Commentary, Deleted Scenes, “Making of” Documentary, Music Video “Over My Head” by Lit, Stills Gallery, Theatrical Trailers and TV Spots, Scene Access and Multiple Language Subtitles.

Directors Commentary ~ This is a version of the film with the directors comments over the top of the sound. This gives you an insight into what the director wanted to get out of the particular scene.

Deleted Scenes ~ These are the scenes which were cut out of the film. There are three which were cut out, there is also two of the same scenes which you can play and compare the differences between the two. These extra scenes are good and I can’t see why they were cut out as they make the film easier to understand.

Music Video ~ This is the video to the song “Over My Head” performed by the band Lit. This video features footage from the film as well as Lit, this is a very cleaver video as it mixes the cartoon with the film of the band playing very well and in places replaces the cartoon characters with themselves, cool!

Stills Gallery ~ This is a selection of original sketches for the animation of the planets that were visited, vehicles that were used by the characters in the film. There are also sketches of the characters, this is good as you can see how they were developed. I also like this section as you can see how the ideas for the film were developed and how they were refined.

~~The Animation~~
The animation for the cartoon is top quality, although this is not a Disney, it does not matter. I actually think this is better than any Disney cartoon as it is not aimed at such a young audience. This I think is reflected in the style of animation. I especially like the animation for the Drej characters, they are meant to be make of pure energy and they are see through with a blue glow and electrical bolt going everywhere, very cool.

~~My Thoughts~~
This is one of the best cartoons that I have seen in a while. It has a good story (with a very good script, which is very funny in places) and a good cast, who gives great performances in their roles. The animation is top quality and this mixed with some digitally created scenes makes for a very entertaining cartoon. This is a cartoon to watch if you are not a fan of Disney cartoons, likewise if you like cartoons you should like this. This is a film that anyone can watch; it is defiantly worth a watch. I hope you enjoy this film as much as I did.

Happy Viewing :-)

Warning: If you want to watch the film do not read on, it will spoil it.

~~The Story~~
In the year 3028 a race called the Drej (a vicious race) destroy the earth. A handful of survivors escape the destruction of the planet. Fifteen years later the human race is falling apart, there are several drifter colonies, basically huge spaceship welded together and pockets of humans working. Humans are now treated as second rate and have to wait for everything. The only hope is a young man named Cale (Matt Damon), who posses a ring, which can lead them to a new beginning. Helped by Korso (Bill Pullman) a friend of Cales father and Akima (Drew Barrymore) they set of on a quest to find the Titan (the spaceship that will save humanity). Chased by the Drej while trying to find the Titan Cale and Akima find out that Korso is being paid by the Drej to betray them so that they can destroy the Titan. In the end, when Korso finds out that he was going to get nothing he sacrifices his life so that the Titan can be saved. At the end of the film you find out what the Drej were so scared of that they had to destroy the Earth, the Titan was a spaceship designed to be able to create a new planet, as long as the right elements were present in the location it was run.

I love the Lit song and video, but never went to see the film (I read some bad reviews). That was a very good op and it's good you put a warning about plot spoliers in! Keep up the good op-ing! Anna

I like the idea of putting the plot details at the end - quite a useful formatting tool. This seems to be universally acclaimed - although its animated status still makes me cautious. Useful review though, cheers, Phil.
