Eight Below & Snow Dogs
I bought Snow Dogs on video years ago when it first came out and really enjoyed it so when I saw the 2 piece set of this and the new similar film on DVD I went and bought it from play.com as I already wanted to replace my old copy of Snow Dogs with a DVD so this was the best reason to do so.

immediately logged on to Amazon to buy the DVD.
The DVD is a documentary which mixes original footage of Christian with interviews with John and Ace and voiceover commentary. The film quality is often fairly poor as the original footage was shot over 30 years ago but the images of London and the fashions of the time make the old footage really watchable. The footage of the lions is lovely, it was really sad to see Christian's parents looking miserable in the zoo and Christian himself in a cage in Harrods. It's hard to believe that a department store sold wild animals and it's lucky that the men who made the spur of the moment decision to buy an exotic animal turned out to be so devoted to him.
The documentary is only 45 minutes long so I ended up feeling a bit cheated at paying £8 for such a short film. The extras add a few extra minutes ...

DVD Description
TIBET - CRY OF THE SNOW LION is a dramatic documentary that takes viewers through the astonishing recent political history of the country. Spending over ten years making the film, director Tom Peosay presents a clear, concise, educational chronology that tracks the major events and developments in the Tibet-China conflict both within those two countries and internationally. The film shows the beauty of the country's Himalaya Mountains, the artistry of Tibetan clothing and monasteries, the practices of the Buddhist religion, and the gentle spirit of the Tibetan people. But the most powerful part of the film includes archival news coverage, interviews with politicians and historians, and testimonials from survivors of torture and imprisonment. Woven together, these pieces tell the story of the immensely disturbing, violent ongoing struggle resulting from Tibet's occupation by China. The film does an excellent job with its material, and viewers will find themselves searching for a solution and an answer to Tibet's problems long after the movie's conclusion.
