During the late nineties, there were a couple of American big budget films made about an asteroid heading towards Earth. Deep Impact was one of these movies.
Deep Impact is about a comet that is on a collision course with Earth and will result in mass destruction and extinction of the human race. A news reporter Jenny Lerner (Tea Leoni), stumbles upon this story by accident, whilst investigating a high level government officials, suspicious resignation. The US Preseident, Tom Beck (Morgan Freeman), initiates a plan to launch a spaceship into orbit to attempt to destroy the comet into smaller safer pieces. As a back-up plan, he also randomly selects 1 million people who will relocate to specially designed caves in order to save the population from extinction.
This is a decent film and has some good characters, including Elijah Wood ...
Advantages: feel good film, effects are better than the origianals! Disadvantages: predictable
It was never going to be amazing we all knew it. It was watchable and wasn't boring but was very predictable.
It was nice to see the vehicles actually flying and the people moving without the aid of strings.
The story follows the thunderbirds after they return to there secret island to find out their space station TB5 has been badly damaged the team thinks its just a meteor strike but unknown to them master criminal The Hood did it so that the thunderbirds left the island and he could take it over, using the power of his mind he makes brain work for him. however he hasn't realised that Alan, Tin Tin and Fermat are still on the island and there not about to give it up.

Advantages: A gripping and compelling thriller Disadvantages: Some may view this as being too long
Family and the new series of Doctor Who, Ian McNeice from Doc Martin, and John Woodvine from Tripods, Distant Shores and the Bill are just some of the names featured in this gem. The Director Martin Campbell has gone on to direct some massive movies including Goldeneye, Vertical Limit, both Zorro movies and the upcoming Bond movie Casino Royale.
In America Edge Of Darkness is regarded as one of the best British thrillers of all time. It's regarded so strongly that Americans have for years been carrying out petitions to get a DVD release. However an issue with Bob Peck's estate in reference to another piece of his work has left a legal problem for this being released in the US. And it seems over the last couple of years that the prospect of this ever occurring has faltered.
