Bed of roses? Syringes, unfortunately
Advantages: Really horrific scenes, a personal touch to the story Disadvantages: Seen it all before
...of the first of the Saw franchise, it was only a matter of time before the second one was released. This time, the film is directed by Darren Lyn Bousman (rather than James Wan), but Leigh Whannell still has some involvement in the writing of the script. Tobin Bell returns as Jigsaw, and is probably the highlight of the film, looking ethereal and yet deadly at the same time. He really is perfect for the role, controlling his actions so that things ... ...chill down my spine every time he is on screen. Without him, I would go as far as to say that this film wouldn't really be worth watching - the story has been done before, but Tobin's presence adds a bit of class to the proceedings. . Donnie Wahlberg is the only other name that I recognised from the cast list. He plays Eric Matthews and is fine in the role, although I couldn't help but feel that something was missing - possibly a chance to get to ...

The funhouse game
Advantages: A clever film that will have you captivated from start to end Disadvantages: May be a bit too graphic for some, acting is not that great
...directed by Darren Lynn Bousman Saw 2 is the sequel to, surprise surprise, Saw and was released back in October 2005. Story line
Xavier (“Franky G”)), Jonas (“Glen Plummer”), Laura (“Beverley Mitchell”), Obi (“Timothy Burd”), Daniel Matthews (“Erik Knudsen), Addison (“Emmanuelle Vaugier”) and Amanda (“Shawnee Smith”) are all ‘normal’ people and despite having never met, are strangers with a specific “something” in common. Being selected to participate ... ...The cast list of Saw 2 is pretty small, and those described above make up over 95% of the entire cast. The main characters are supported by few supporting actors, none of whom give memorable performances or really stand out. I found this surprising since there is usually at least one person that stands out from the crowd and worthy of a mention, but this is not the case with this film.
My opinion
Having watched Saw when it was first released ...

They are all around us.
Advantages: Meaningful, thought-provoking & very emotive Disadvantages: It is very hard to translate fantasy into reality
...(I hope this doesn't defeat the object of my review altogether!). I have seen this one a couple of times before & it is pretty well known, so most readers will probably already know the story, but my outline will be as always - hopefully not too patronising!
The story
Having just celebrated receiving an award recognising his achievements practising in child psychology - for all the children he has helped or 'saved' - Dr. Malcolm Crowe (Bruce Willis) ... ...feeling he was abandoned by the doctor when he needed help. Malcolm remembers him with some guilt, but still has no idea what to do. Unfortunately it is too late for that patient, now a grown man in a dreadful state, & he pulls out a gun, fires on shot at Malcolm, then shoots himself. Sometime onwards, Dr. Malcolm Crowe, permanently burdened by the guilt of failing that one patient, is approached by a boy (Haley Joel Osment) that somehow reminds ...

Defining What Horror Is This Millennium
Advantages: Three films in one and the twists. Disadvantages: Not exactly scary, more sick.
2006 is the year the first trilogy of Saw ends with Saw 3, but over the past couple of years I have sat through Saw 1 and its sequel. If you're looking for a late Halloween scare you may want to pick up this boxset, which also includes White Noise. Horror in this day and age seems to be different from previous films, where it's more violence than people jumping out and the music going louder when you're not expecting it. Obviously directors are trying ... ...that violence isn't scary - more, when you're waiting for a bear trap to close on someones head, it's sick. Obviously this boxset will not be for the weak hearted. So lets start at the beginning, with the original Saw from 2003. I first caught this film on a snow day (it ended up being a melted snow day, oops) so watching it with a group of friends in day light wasn't all that frightening. Not knowing what Saw was about was quite compelling though, ...

Righteous kill- canny film for a saturday night!
Advantages: good easy to watch film Disadvantages: dont expect too much
...was pleasantly surprised. It wasnt the best film ive seen them in by a long shot but it was very easy watching. It is stroy about a string of vigalante type killings with the killer looking more like a 'cop' with each one. the storyline wasnt particularly thrilling and a little cliche'. the ending is pretty predictable but that makes it watchable more than once. If you watch this expecting fireworks then you wont enjoy it.
im not sure how long these ... ...but they carried it well for this film.
Its a easy film to watch for a quite night in and i would give it a 7/10. You dont finish this film feeling diasappointed but you dont come away feeling blown away either. I would definately recommend it and probably watch it again someday. a good cop thriller that is worth seeing. ...
