3-D graphics; 2-D characters
Review of Jaws 3 DVD by
Mel27
Advantages: Cheap to buy
Disadvantages: Terrible special effects; weak plot
This film was originally released in 1983 and the makers tried to make it more exciting by using the then new "3-D" special effects. Hence the film did reasonably well at the box office as cinemas filled with people wearing silly red and green glasses. However, this novelty, which doesn't even work on the small screen, is its one redeeming feature. Not even the fact that Dennis Quaid is in it helps!
The basic plot is that Michael Brody (Dennis Quaid) ... ...work at Sea World in Florida. A group of marine biologists at Sea World in Florida attempt to capture a young great white shark that has wandered into the park. Have the boys learned nothing about sharks?! However, the shark is actually a baby shark and it dies. A diver has also mysteriously gone missing. Even worse, the diver is later discovered half eaten and the bites are much too big to have come from the trapped shark. Soon enough, it's huge ...

What did you see?
Review of Vantage Point DVD by
patel88
Advantages: Storyline is interesting and they way everything is uncovered
Disadvantages: Starts to get repeatative
I will try and tell you about the movie without giving too much away, otherwise it'll be pointless in you watching it, as it'll lose the surprise and spin that is added to the movie. The way that this movie has been made is rather clever. It shows you the points of views of a number of different people, and the only thing that remains the same is what they see in the end. It is different to most movies that are made which makes it more interesting. ... ...landmark summit on the global war on terror. When the President is shot, there is chaos, and after that there are two explosions to follow. This is where the movie starts to break up. For the first half of the movie it shows you what different people saw on the day, and just when you are about to find out who tried to assonate the president, time rewinds back to 12pm and you are shown the event through the eyes of someone else. Each view point reveals ...

See it from my point of view
Review of Vantage Point DVD by
eandemam
Advantages: Entertaining
Disadvantages: None really
...which is told from the vantage point of 8 different characters. Piece by piece, their viewpoints add new elements to the plot line, giving twists and turns to keep you interested until they all culminate with all of the characters being involved in the final scenes. It is set up in a similar way to the TV series "24", as the action is shown in real time. With each character, you find out a little bit more about the motivation and aim of various characters.
... ...be familiar faces in every scene. Matthew Fox plays Kent Taylor, a US security agent in awe of old timer Thomas Barnes, played by Dennis Quaid, who previously saved President Ashton's (played by William Hurt) life. Barnes is fighting some fierce demons after that assassination attempt, and the summit is his return to frontline duty. Howard, played by Forrest Whittaker is a tourist, spending time away from his family working out how to right some ...

Again And Again, And Again, And Again
Review of Vantage Point DVD by
sghawken
Advantages: Big booming blockbuster movie, just like the old days
Disadvantages: Repetitive during the first hour
...perspective or if you prefer Vantage Point.
Vantage Point was the first big action/thriller blockbuster of 2008 the story told from a very 21st century point of view. While not being told in real-time the movie has a familiar feel about it, it's almost treading the identical grounds of the highly popular TV show 24. Vantage Point offers that same warped perspective and politically damaging plot that 24 offers, as a result I'm sure I don't need to ... ...much better.
Creatively speaking Vantage Point features some of the most effective looking action sequences I have seen for a while. There isa fantastic moment involving an ambulance that is just epic, while the explosions though clearly CGI (because of scale) look totally amazing. The filming is excellent moving effectively from proper film camera, to handheld digital camera; even when restricted by the handheld shot the movie still looks incredibly ...

Repetition Proves a Disadvantage Point
Review of Vantage Point DVD by
afy9mab
Advantages: A decent cast.
Disadvantages: Repetitive, pedestrian direction, repetitive, sloppy writing, repetititive...
At a meeting between Muslim and western countries in Salamanca, Spain the president of the United States is shot by an assassin. Secret service agent Thomas Barnes seeks to requisition all the available footage from a TV producer, her news crew and a tourist. When seen from all the available perspectives, it appears that all is not as it seems. What do the assassins want? Is the president really alive? What is the truth?
Director Pete Travis has ... ...his big screen debut. It plays out like a TV movie that's struck lucky because it is prone to cinematic cliché and episodic pacing. The biggest bugbear I have with the director is the way he approaches the same events from myriad viewpoints. He employs a frustrating and hackneyed device whereby he gets to a certain point in a character's timeline then fades to white, spools back through key shots from their story, hits a blackout that shows the time ...
