Memento
Advantages: Sleek, stylish, well acted Disadvantages: full concentration required!
...for breakfast." Memento could have been a bit gimmicky, but Nolan's flair and talent make it compelling viewing. It seems to hold together well as a film, with only a few inconsistencies in Shelby's condition which are necessary to make the plot work. It is a film worth watching more than once in order to understand the details. A real stylish psychological thriller of the finest quality, a unique whodunit that'll leave you guessing until the film's ... ...well rewarded. Overall, Memento is fabulously entertaining. Directed and performed with intelligence and ambition, it really is a film you have to concentrate on, and one you'll be thinking about long after the closing credit. Clever, suspenseful, intriguing and, ironically enough, unforgettable! Extras: Extras include the trailer, an excellent interview with Christopher Nolan, Tattoo Gallery and Website material. ...

A good remake?!
Advantages: direction, cinematography, Williams' dark performance Disadvantages: some aspects lost from the original, some characters are not as good. jusge for yourself.
This remake of the Norwegian version was saved by the cast and crew that were involved.
Christopher Nolan directs the American version, this time set in Alaska which has similar climate and often features times of year where it is constantly light.
This is a very important part of a film named Insomnia.
It is also tied in with the fact that our main character has accidentally shot and killed his best friend and co-worker.
We follow Al Pacino ... ...girl, whilst the murderer (Robin Williams) toys with him as he witnesed the shooting.
This movie shows a conflict between the drained Al Pacino and the surprisingly exelently dark Robin Williams as they both try to uncover each others secrets.
I really don't like remakes.
If a film is worth remaking then it is hardly ever going to be improved.
However, with Christopher Nolan's excellent talent at the helm, and with Pacino, Williams and Hillary ...

Some memories are best forgotten...
Advantages: Reverse chronological storyrelling! Disadvantages: The movie's finale
...the depth of its intricacies. Memento about a man named Leonard (Guy Pearce) who is from San Francisco. Leonard is an insurance fraud investigator, suffering from anterograde amnesia. Leonard suffered from extensive head injuries after he intervened on his wife's murder. Although his memory is intact, prior to the incident, he is no longer able to make new memories and suffers short-term memory loss. To compensate for his condition he uses annotated ... ...sequence, which becomes the climax. Memento is a creative movie that does not abide by the precedents of narration. Other movies have also changed around with the time and the way in which the movie flows, movies such as Peppermint Candy and Irréversible. If Christopher Nolan had not directed this movie the reverse chronological structure of the movie could have been an utter gimmick, however Memento's unique way in which it is executed helps us ...

Action-packed with some witty dialogue but still flawed somehow
Advantages: Quite thrilling when it gathers pace, seemed an authentic depiction of London, some humour Disadvantages: Something about Downey Jnrs depiction of Holmes didnt work somehow, not for all ages/the squeamish
...Sir Arthur Conan Doyle's novels, Sherlock Holmes and Dr. Watson start out by catching a serial killer who dabbles in the the supernatural, an evil man called Lord Blackwood who is sentenced to death, indeed Watson confirms he's dead after he's hung. Things take a distinctly sinister turn, however, when they discover than Blackwood has apparently risen from the dead and Holmes recalls what he told him before he was hung, which indicated that more ... ...actor (Robert Downey Jnr.) played Sherlock Holmes, while an English actor (Jude Law), played his right hand man, Dr. Watson. Now of course I knew that before I went to see the movie, infact I quite like Robert Downey Jnr. as an actor and I have enjoyed some of his other movies and the fact that he plays the main character was one of the main reasons I wanted to see it in the cinema but there was something about him playing this role that I just didn't ...

What goes around comes around..
Advantages: Enigmatic Disadvantages: Perhaps too long
...I wouldn’t say this was in that impact category but certainly a quality piece of film. The drama begins with the return of thirty-something award winning war photographer Paul Harris (Mathew McFadden) to the small rural town of Steimer where he grew up, his first visit for 17 years. The night bag over the shoulder arrival is for dad’s funeral, mum long returned to the Earth, Paul’s relationship with big brother Andrew (Colin May) still not good after ... ...As per normal in these movies Paul has awakened ghosts from his and others past on his return, none more so than a long lost relationship with Penny (Miranda Otto), the reason, we discover later, he skipped town. Deciding to stick around and sort out the family estate, his brother begrudging Paul’s promised third of the Will & Testament, the rest going to an unnamed charity, things take an unexpected turn in his closed world with the arrival of a ...
