the original German Funny Games from 1997 by Michael Haneke
Advantages: groundbreaking in it's time a must see in modern european cinema Disadvantages: the German language isn't the most enjoyable language on earth
In 2007 Michael Haneke released a movie "Funny Games u.s." to make one thing clear from the beginning this is not the same movie! It s way better... One of the biggest obstacles for an English audience could be the german language although subtitles are available. Maybe that's the reason why Michael Haneke decided to make his "us" version? Who knows, anyway, the german language for me aint an obstacle (living in Belgium near the German border) so ... ...main charactersPeter and Paul are two at first sight very decent and civilized young man who come over to ask for some eggs. OUt of this simple ordinary fact Michael Haneke succeeds in making a movie that's one of his kind. The two young friends start to terrorize the bourgeois family and what makes this movie so interesting for me was that contrary to other similar movies in this flick the consequences for the victims are in the spotlights. An intersting ...

Hanks a Billion Brown!
Advantages: Good fun romp Disadvantages: Hanks?
...the DaVinci Code and now Angels & Demons, the Collider featuring heavily in the latter movie, hence the intro, this the second of the Robert Langdon trilogy, even though in the book sequence this came before the DaVinci Code. Browns narrative is all about that search for the ultimate particle and how the Catholic Church has always tried to defend their increasingly absurd version of events on 'creation' against science as the gap closes between scientific ... ...= = 'Writing Angels & Demons' Director Ron Howard tries to convince us he loved making this movie but its by-the-numbers stuff for him and clearly a studio job film, one they 'ask' their top guys to do to secure future funding for the studio. This is the permanently Baseball capped directors first ever sequel in his forty-one-year directing career (In 2010 he would have made movies in five different decades believe it or not) and he was paid very ...

Not quite a demon of a film, but not bad.
Advantages: Enjoyable, plot draws you in Disadvantages: Female lead character not very strong
Angels and Demons is another film based on the best selling books written by Dan Brown. I have to confess that I am one of the few people who never read The Da Vinci Code although I did watch the film. I therefore sat down to watch Angels and Demons not knowing what the storyline was about. The film begins with the death of the Pope and as the Vatican get ready to elect a new pope four of the most likely successors are kidnapped. They are believed ... ...old religious group and are threatening to murder them one by one. Robert Langdon (played by Tom Hanks) is sent for because of his successful detective work in the Da Vinci code and works alongside Vittoria Vettra who is a scientist who has created an explosive antimatter which has been stolen by the Illuminati and will be used as a bomb with devastating consequences. Together Langdon and Vettra chase around Rome trying to solve the clues and uncover ...

Terror strikes London - Hitchcock 1
Advantages: Hitchcocks genius, an incredibly tense scene & all around greatness Disadvantages: None at all relly.
Sabotage – Wilful destruction of buildings or machinery with the object of alarming a group of persons or inspiring public uneasiness. Such is the dictionary definition of the word and the first thing you see on screen when you watch Sabotage. Made in 1936 Sabotage is another of the movies made by Alfred Hitchcock in the UK before he headed off to Hollywood and even bigger worldwide acclaim. Mr Verloc owns a small cinema in central London that he ... ...at Piccadilly Square. Sabotage is based on the novel Secret Agent written by Joseph Conrad, who also wrote Heart of Darkness the story that became the acclaimed movie Apocalypse Now, and much like a lot of very early Hitchcock movies has a very basic premise. Of course with only 73 minutes to tell the whole story then you are not going to get a very complex movie by todays standards. It does have a thrilling story though and one of, if not THE most ...
