Rear Window...Another Hitchcock classic
Advantages: suspense, brilliant acting directing Disadvantages: none
This classic 1954 film is one of Alfred Hitchcock's most celebrated and enduringly popular films, famed for its incredible case and suspense, and when you watch it, it is easy to see why. Basically the film centres around a photographer called L.B Jeffries, played by the superb James Stewart, who is confined to his apartment due to having a broken leg. He spends a great deal of time looking out of his window, merely out of boredom and intrigue and ... ...building may have been murdered by her husband. This is an incredibly suspenseful, atmospheric and well acted film, with the vast majority of the film taking place in one room looking out into a courtyard. The performances from Stewart and the incomparable Grace Kelley make this incredibly easy to watch. Their relationship and the way in which it develops through their investigation of the suspected murder, is for me one of the highlights of the ...

Have YOU Got VERTIGO?
Advantages: One of Hitchcock's best Disadvantages: Minor plot holes
Vertigo is a pretty famous Alfred Hitchcock film. It was released in 1958 and starred James Stewart and Kim Novak with support from Barbara Bel Geddes (who went on to famously play Miss Ellie Ewing in Dallas for a decade or so) and Tom Helmore.
John Ferguson (Scottie) is a retired police officer who developed vertigo during a chase when a colleague fell to his death from a rooftop. He has severe vertigo and it causes some complications in his life ... ...mission and because of his vertigo Scottie is unable to save her and is consumed with guilt. Sometime later Scottie spots a woman called Judy who looks a lot like Madeline and starts to date her. He then starts to suspect that they are one and the same woman but how can this be? Norman Bates - Psychopath Analysis
Advantages: Directing by Hitchcock. Disadvantages: It's kind of frightening.
‘You know what I think? I think that we're all in our private traps — clamped in them — and none of us can ever get out. We scratch and claw but only at the air, only at each other. And for all of it, we never budge an inch.’ Norman Bates is the main character in Hitchcock’s movie ‘Psycho’. At first, he seems just the ‘boy-next-door’ type of guy, who owns a cheap motel and lives with his mother. Only that the mother doesn’t exist anymore, she’s only ... ...he poisoned her, he decides to compensate her absence, by saving her body, preserving it and even trying to talk in her voice. But can he handle the all too different personalities? He fells in love with a client, Marion, but soon, the Mother’s personality intercedes and so Marion ends up by being stabbed with a kitchen knife while taking a shower. That’s when we understand that the Mother’s personality took over quite often, leaving Norman lost ...

North by Northwest (1959)
Directed by Alfred Hitchcock
131 minutes
Starring: Cary Grant, Eva Marie Saint, James Mason, Martin Landau
The plot has holes so gaping you could fly a crop duster through:
The Plot (if you can suspend your belief):

North By Northwest however is THE first extravagant, technicolour thriller which would’ve shaken viewers by their lapels on the big screen. From the suave hero who is phased by nothing, the sinister villain, the beautiful girl, thunderous music, the humour and exotic location: this film has it all. Glorious, beautiful and well performed fun
Advantages: Performances are great and it is good fun Disadvantages: Maybe a little light for true Hitchcock fans
...first suspect. he sets out to proclaim his innocence to all including Grace kelly, the daughter of a jewel clad millionaire widow (played immpecably by Jessie Royce Landis), who suspects him and falls madly for his dangerous charm. I found this to be a highly enjoyable and entertaining film. perhaps not one Hitchcock's best, it certainly lacks the dark elements of many of his masterpieces, but the performaces are thoroughly enjoable throughout. Grant ... ...fine turn by John Williams as the insurance agent that helps grant find the thief by helping him find the richest ladies on the Riviera. the chemistry between Grant and Kelly sizzles throughout and although no-one will watch this and consider it a masterpiece, it is glorious Sunday afternoon fun. ...
