Where do we belong?
Advantages: William H Macy's performance Disadvantages: Translation of play to film not good
Edmond is a high flier, working for a well-known firm, and is obstensibly happily married, although he knows that something in his life is not right. Then one day he goes to a fortune teller, who explains that he is not where he belongs. He snaps, goes home, tells his wife he is leaving her and walks out, planning to live a little. He tries to get laid, generally unsuccessfully, and gets badly beaten up by some card hustlers. Having bought a knife ... ...snap in the way that Edmond does. Despite Macy's excellent performance, I reached the end of the film unsure whether or not I had enjoyed the film. Whereas I had every sympathy with Macy's plight, outside of his performance, the film seemed incredibly wooden and staged. I really did feel as if I was watching a play on stage rather than a film. Edmond's interactions with various characters throughout the film just don't feel comfortable. It isn't ...

Suitable for William H Macey lovers.
Advantages: Extremely great Acting Disadvantages: Not for the Depressed
This is a most disturbing movie explaining a person's life sinking into the depths of depravity.
Made in 2005 and starring William H. Macy and directed by Stuart Gordon who is more familiar with horror movies eg Fortress and King of the Ants.
The movie begins with a husband disillusioned with his life. He is not in love with his wife and wants to leave and start anew.
It is a downward spiral from then onwards and takes place over the next 24 hours.
... ...who sympathises with him about how life should be explored for pleasure and gives him a card for a seedy nightclub, where he tells him he will acquire all the pleasures he desires.
Macy finds out that you do not get anything for nothing in these sort of places and is astounded at the money they want for supplying sex.
He moves on to a sauna parlour and soon finds out that nothing is any different in there either and feels exploited and doesn't ...

A Glitch in Time
Advantages: Stylish and cleverly-plotted, an excellent blend of science-fiction and thriller. Disadvantages: Minimal.
...the verdant woodland of Cantabria, Timecrimes follows two extraordinary hours in the life of Hector, who has just moved into a new house with his wife, Clara. Taking a break from packing, Hector is reclining in his garden with a pair of binoculars when he spots a distressed young woman undressing in the nearby woods. His curiosity piqued and his wife gone shopping, our protagonist heads off to investigate. Half an hour later, Hector is being pursued ... ...cover) and seeks refuge in a silo attached to a nearby property. So far, so conventionally madman-in-the-woods horror. Here, though, the film takes a turn for the much more intriguing. A scientist working in the silo encourages Hector to hide in a vat where his pursuer 'will never think to look.' Fearing he has little choice but to follow, Hector allows his newfound ally to shut him in. When the vat is reopened moments later, he is disturbed to find ...

Dennis Quaid Meets Saw?
Advantages: good acting, a new take on gore Disadvantages: a little bit 'too hostel' for me if you know what I mean...
Horsemen is 2009's answer to what you get when you combine a little hostel, a little saw and a little biblical reference - which you can probably guess from the title 'Horsemen' - the four horsemen of the apocalypse.
This was a film I was actually looking forward to seeing and I wasn't disapointed but I don't rate it as one of my favourites however I do reccomend it to those of you that are a fan of cult films, crime thrillers and gorefests. The ... ...secrets - adds a little depth to the film title and the plot centres around Aiden Breslin (Quaid) some kind of forensic detective that specialises in, well, teeth by the looks of it. Anyway, like most violent focused films the plot is very obvious although it is quite linear and straightforward. No complicated twists here, so great for a night in with the girls/guys.
Character Performances
Whilst this is far from Quaid's best performance he ...
