High Crimes, No Enjoyment
Review of High Crimes (Wide Screen) by Andy.mack

Advantages: Tries to make Courtroom Drama appeal to a wider audience
Disadvantages: It fails due to bad direction and a weak script

...too many redeeming qualities about High Crimes either. The lighting is awful in places, where they have attempted to create atmosphere by dimming or switching off lights. Instead of adding anything at all this just means you have to strain your eyes a bit to actually see what is going on. The courtroom scenes are quite minimal when you consider that in essence this is a courtroom drama. This opens High Crimes up to a slightly wider audience, but ...
...The main problem with High Crimes is that it’s all been done before. The director fails to over us anything new and for this the film suffers. He’s tried to create a film that will keep you guessing what’s happened throughout with a few thrills along the way. What he’s actually come up with is an obvious end to the film that you can work out from about 20 minutes into it’s 2 hour run time. As for the Thrills I think ... Read review

Out of Lime (see what I done there)
Review of Out Of Time DVD by Phelthew

Advantages: Eva Mendes, some nice action sequences, suspense
Disadvantages: Slight tedium, I got sick of watching it after awhile

...his scent. Things don't turn out to be as simple as that (if you can call that simple) Denzel starts to believe of that there's some sort of espionage going on and all was not what it seems with the bit on the side what ever her name was. This was a medicore film, I did quite like teh story and I admit some moments were intense but it didn't really grip too much. Denzel Washington is a good actor and he played the part very well. Eva Mendes was enjoyable ...
...also Denzel's humourus accomplice whose in on the whole thing. He added some much needed comic relief I believe. The guy from the New Adventures of Superman was also in it so any fans of his should take note (if he has any fans). A spin off with just Eva Mendes and that mortuary/coroner funny guy would be great. And also slight plot spoiler but Eva Mendes and Denzel's characters happen to get back together at the end of the film with no more actual ... Read review

Blue or black?
Review of Devil In A Blue Dress (Wide Screen) by sunmeilan

Advantages: Great noir detective fiction
Disadvantages: None for me

Ezekiel (Easy) Rawlins is down on his luck and worried about mortgage payments when he is offered a job as a private detective, investigating the disappearance of a white woman called Daphne. As Rawlins' employer, DeWitt Albright, believes that Daphne is hiding somewhere in Los Angeles' black district, Rawlins starts his investigation by speaking to some friends of his. One of them, Coretta, knows Daphne, and gives Rawlins some useful information, ...
...day, Rawlins is the number one suspect. Can Rawlins avoid being charged for a murder he didn't commit and find out what happened to Daphne? Or is he involved in a bigger intrigue than he realised? Made back in 1995, this film seems even older than that because it is set back in the 1940s and is based on hardboiled detective fiction a la Dashiell Hammett, Raymond Chandler and James M Cain. As a fan of this type of fiction, this film was always going ... Read review

BLU-RAY REVIEW
Review of Vantage Point DVD by Bax88

Advantages: Brilliant plot, excellent picture quality, solid audio, good special features.
Disadvantages: Can become repetitive.

...challenges my intellect, so when Vantage Point arrived on the scene and was supposedly "a slick, explosive thriller that builds to an exciting climax" (according to Heat magazine) I was more than intrigued. The all star cast only added to my interest in the film, with Matthew Fox (Lost), Forest Whitaker (The Last King of Scotland) and Sigourney Weaver all making an appearance. Did Vantage Point live up to my expectations and prove to be a captivating ...
...had never been attempted before. Vantage Point begins by showing the President getting shot whilst making a speech in Spain, and then replays the event through 8 different people's perspectives; without ever actually showing you what the person really saw. The cliff hanger ending of every characters scene keeps you guessing what happened and will constantly have your theory on the event changing. Each character differs immensely from the next and ... Chimp in control!
Review of The Bank Job DVD by dangaroo

Advantages: Authentic 70s style, fun heist
Disadvantages: Additional story lines for no apparent reason

...films, spying and heists and the like -this film definitely appealed. I thoroughly enjoyed both Snatch and Lock Stock and 2 Smoking Barrells and was interested to see how the work of Guy Ritchie's side-kick Roger Donaldson worked out. The storyline which involved photos of important people, including a royal family member and an important judge in compromising nuddy positions with sordid sorts was always going to be quite exciting. To remove these ...
...cockneys (3 if you include the lookout) led by the ape like Jason Statham. It sounds like fun already does it not! The heist is realistic and comes alive on the screen, despite Statham's distinct stiffness and chimp like features he pulls the part off well, even if t does feel a bit like one stage up from Phil Mitchell. The manipulating posh bird played bv Saffron Burrows returns from Morocco and is caught with drugs at customs and a friend in British ... Read review
