I Want To Play Another Game!
Review of Saw II DVD by blondgem

Advantages: -
Disadvantages: -

...on a mission with the Saw movies, I was really impressed with Saw which I only watched a couple of days ago, that I couldn't wait to watch the sequel SAW 2. I left off in Saw astounded by the twists and turns that this film had. I was not ancipating the ending and it sure did come as a shock to me when you realised that who you actually thought was the Jigsaw was in actual fact the person that the game was on, and that Jigsaw had been present in ...
...brains out. Very clever! Saw 2 has much more budget than Saw. Saw was very low budget and you could tell it was, where as they have thrown a hell of a lot more money into this sequel that was produced. Saw 2 starts with a recap of what happened at the end of SAW which is great because if you followed these from the cinema it would be quite easy to forget what happened in the last part however I have literally watched the two days apart and cannot ... Defining What Horror Is This Millennium
Review of Saw/Saw 2/White Noise DVD by Nathan_Innit

Advantages: Three films in one and the twists.
Disadvantages: Not exactly scary, more sick.

2006 is the year the first trilogy of Saw ends with Saw 3, but over the past couple of years I have sat through Saw 1 and its sequel. If you're looking for a late Halloween scare you may want to pick up this boxset, which also includes White Noise. Horror in this day and age seems to be different from previous films, where it's more violence than people jumping out and the music going louder when you're not expecting it. Obviously directors are trying ...
...that violence isn't scary - more, when you're waiting for a bear trap to close on someones head, it's sick. Obviously this boxset will not be for the weak hearted. So lets start at the beginning, with the original Saw from 2003. I first caught this film on a snow day (it ended up being a melted snow day, oops) so watching it with a group of friends in day light wasn't all that frightening. Not knowing what Saw was about was quite compelling though, ... Read review

How long to cremate a body? - Domestic Disturbance
Review of Domestic Disturbance (Wide Screen) by etala

Advantages: Has it moments
Disadvantages: More plot holes than a leaky bucket!

"Domestic Disturbance" is your standard thriller fare and due to one extremely unfortunately gaping hole in the plot it fails to deliver the impact that perhaps it should. Frank Morrison is obviously a great dad, he has a lovely close relationship with his son, Danny and he's still on good terms with his ex-wife Susan. So quite why she divorced him is a little puzzling to begin with. Anyway Susan is getting remarried to handsome and successful businessman ...
...developing his relationship with Danny. The day of the wedding comes around and when a character from Rick's past, Ray appears Rick starts to behave in a less friendly way especially towards Danny. As far as the plot goes it's here that the huge leap in reality must be taken and as I say it's so silly that it really spoils the rest of the story. Without giving it away the local police force must really invest in some better forensic equipment! ... Read review

Saw II the film
Review of Saw II DVD by marmy1

Advantages: it is good and keeps you watching
Disadvantages: you need to see saw I first

I saw this film last night and thought it was ok. I am not usually a horror film fan because i cant stand hiding behind a cushion for the whole film. With this it was more like csi or something where you get all the detail, you know what is going to happen but you dont fully see it. It is based around a policeman whose son is kidnapped by jigsaw. He puts this boy in a house with 6 other people. The game begins when the policeman finds jigsaw and ...
...his son being held. At this he begins to go mad and so jigsaw makes him talk with him and then the policeman begins to beat jigsaw up. Meanwhile in the house they are being poisioned by a deadly gas which slowly kills there nervous system and means they will bleed from every exit place. One by one they begin to bleed and the only way thay they can get passed this is to find the antidote that is in syringes and hidden around the house. All the people ... Read review

"Don't You Wish You Put Up The Drapes"
Review of Malice DVD by sghawken

Advantages: Twisty turny thriller with a vicious streak
Disadvantages: No special features

...and taking their hair. Malice turns out to be nothing like what you first expect, aspects considered important at the start turn out to be minor, while the little hints of story turn out to become major events shaping the way the movie looks. This is a movie about betrayal of trust, and honesty, more than its original conception from opening credits as a serial killer thriller. Why I feel Malice is comparable to a Giallo movie comes from a surprising ...
...whole villain element that makes Malice in my eyes a winner, although the build up to those events is equally enjoyable, it's always great to watch a movie that has a certain unknown quantity about it. Malice gives you a real feeling for the community that the story revolves around, while being a university community (usually involving a big area) you get the feeling that everyone knows one another. The bars are local haunts, and you understand ... Read review
